Adobe has announced the shutdown of Photoshop.com in favor of the newer Adobe Revel. Find out what will happen to your files on Photoshop.com.

Photoshop.com has been the go to online storage hub for many photographers, especially those using Elements. Now, Adobe has announced the shutdown of Photoshop.com in favor of the newer Adobe Revel. Don't panic if you are a Photoshop.com user. Adobe has several options for making sure you don't lose any photos. However, you need to be aware of some changes to what you are used to as Revel currently does not have all the functionality that Photoshop.com did.

How Do I Save My Photos?

Starting April 2nd, Adobe will begin moving all JPEG files on Photoshop.com to the new Revel cloud service.  Currently Revel does not support video or any other image file type other than JPEG.  If you wish to save those files (or have copies of JPEG files on your computer) you'll need to download your files before June 18, 2013 when Photoshop.com will be finally shut down.

To download your files go to the downloader page of Photoshop.com.

If you live outside of the U.S. you must manually start the migration process to Revel.  To begin the migration simply visit the migration page of Photoshop.com.

If you live inside the U.S. and do NOT wish for your files to be migrated to Revel you need to opt out of the process on the opt out page at Photoshop.com.

What is Revel?

Adobe Revel is the new cloud based photo storage and sharing system that works across a variety of platforms to better serve the today's on the go photographer.  A basic image editor is included and basic service is free.  Premium upgrade is available for $5.99 a month.

  • Premium:  Unlimited uploads and storage

Differences Between Platforms

  • iPhone, iPad and Mac — Access, organize, edit, and share photos on all iOS devices
  • Web — Upload, access, and view photos via web browser
  • Revel Importer for Android — Import photos on Android devices

I Already Pay for Photoshop.com, What Happens to My Money?

Current ElementsPlus and Photoshop.com paid members will be well taken care of by Adobe.  Adobe is offering these currently paid members "complimentary upgrade to Photoshop Elements 11 software and a free, one-year subscription to Revel Premium. You will also receive a pro-rated refund for your unused subscription, if applicable."
