Changes to AdSense on Google Sites
It seems to be a very curious move, and I wonder if it's going to affect YouTube. There's going to be a lot of unhappy people, if they do.
Extant users are fine though.

I've never earned much from AdSense or any other affiliate program, so I obviously don't get the whole affiliate thing anyway. I wonder if Google's move has something to do with the prevalence of adblockers now. Some of the adverts, even here in Wizzley, are getting a tad old and I never looked at them to start with so I'm not going to look at them for the n-millionth time. Many are completely irrelevant to me too. I'm using that word more and more and feeling very disconnected from what is allegedly of interest to the wider world at present. Described by one of my clients as 'a literary grammarian', writing, researching and reading are requirements for sanity, at least this side of the keyboard.

I think this affects only Google Sites and this is probably the start of the end of this service. YouTube and Blogger will not be affected until they decide to apply something similar there (I don't see the reason why they should do that). Especially YouTube is making them pretty good money. |

From what I understand, this adsense thing only applies to blogger (Google owned sites) and it won't really affect those already in existence. I didn't see anything about the possibility of Amazon being banned. I stopped adsense on my blogs long ago after they shut down my account for supposedly clicks on ads which I have no control over. I got a new account after protesting, but I don't use it on my blogs. If Google turns blogger blogs into something like the Free Wordpress where you cannot use any affiliate links, at least there are other options which are not controlled by Google.
But, if you do use Adsense, you can still place adsense on your other sites. Linda Smith

I'm thinking about trialling Chitika on here given Jo Harrington's success with it. I'm about up to here with affiliate programs at the moment especially as all the ones I've been using to date have quietly been withdrawn and the remaining ones don't earn me any money!
