Before I possibly waste your time with a page or link .. does the service work by wrapping all links with:

Meaning ALL links get wrapped with the API - but being wrapped doesnt necessarily mean that the service is modifying or redirecting an existing afflink? I was swinging by scooping up a link I knew I used here and was boggled when I pasted it in elsewhere to see multiple lines of code where I expected a single link , lol

This may be completely the wrong thing to offer as an idea on this. Sorry, I do not understand the technical side of things like code; but I can remember this from exploring the VigLink site. There is a bit on the Viglink site where you can switch the service to over ride all the existing links or you can have it switched to only Vigilink the unaffiliated links. It appears as an ON and OFF button. I think the default is off, it is on the page with another button that can also be switched on and off. Added after thinking about it - no I do not think this is relevant to the problem Sunforged mentions, I misunderstood the problem. Now I understand he is saying it is happens even on pages where Viglink is off on the article. Here, I go again trying to be helpful and not getting it right. |

Sunforged: 11. Apr 2012, 02:48 That is correct.
However, this is not to be confused with the auto link insertion (LinkWeaver). If an author has unchecked this option for an individual page then VigLink should not insert any links, even during our impressions. SEO Praxis: Specializing in WordPress Hosting and Small Business Web Design.

I am also seeing this, and it is frustrating me. Here is my example: http://wizzley.com/special-limited-edition-zippo-lighters/ I have another one to provide if necessary. I disabled viglink a week or so ago, I gave it a few days to propagate, but viglink is still sticking links in my article. I'll be absolutely honest here, this is the difference between me building a portfolio on Wizzley and not building a portfolio on Wizzley. A few other writers that I know have said the same. I only really mingle now with the people who have been huge successes on other revenue sharing sites, and it would be such a shame for Wizzley to scare them away. Sunforged included in fact, who before decimating his Hubpages account had made a small fortune, I've taken 15 million hits on Hubpages. I can't tell you how much I want Wizzley to succeed, partly because of the great people that I have seen make the move across (who deserve success for political reasons), and partly because I like the vibe of the staff (a refreshing change from the arrogance that staff at two other major rev sites succumbed too). I believe you when you say that it shouldn't be happening, and hope as a result that you endeavor to get it fixed, but it really needs to happen :( For me it's not about financial reasons, I seldom use in-text aff links off of my own domains, but purely because I simply hate them as a reader and therefore hate them as a writer.

Hi Ryan, I can indeed see that you still have auto links on your page. At this point we'll have to ask Simon to check on this. Sorry to be the cause for such frustration, but rest assured we will bring this up with the team tomorrow and hopefully kill this bug dead. We partnered with VigLink to open up more possible streams of revenue for our authors in the most user-friendly way. But we're all for transparency and freedom of choice, and definitely don't want to impose onto authors who do not wish to participate. We did mention that we consider this to be a "beta-feature" until we've ironed out all the kinks. Thanks for providing feedback which will help us speed up this process. Hi together, hi Ryan, the issue has just been fixed - thanks for this important bug report! As of now, link insertion is only activated when ads are allowed on the article in the first place AND the link insertion option is checked. If you prefer, we can allow the link insertion option while automatic ads (AdSense/Chitika) are turned off ...it gives you more options, but requires an extra click to disable all ads including link insertion ... An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made, in a narrow field.

Simon: 13. Apr 2012, 04:14 That's great thanks. It's not that I am completely adverse to giving viglinks a go, just that I don't see a place for them on my 'sales' pages / product pages. Thanks Watch free documentaries at Best Documentary

I agree with Ryan and Sunforged, there are definitely times that I want the link insertion turned off. I did so on my latest article because the inserted links were confusing to the reader and distracted from the links I put in which directed them to more explanation. Was this issue ever resolved? I uncheck the LinkWeaver and still get those links on my pages. When I insert my own links, I just think it's too much for the reader. How do I get those links off there? So annoying. Thanks. And why are my links still NOFOLLOW? Sorry, having some frustrating times here and would like something resolved. Victoria Lynn

VictoriaLynn, I have just looked at each one of your articles and did not see any auto inserted links. Can you point out exactly where this is happening? SEO Praxis: Specializing in WordPress Hosting and Small Business Web Design.

Hi, nightowl, I just checked my back to school shopping article, and there are several words underlined: school, classes, apartment . . . . I haven't checked the other articles again. Thanks. Victoria Lynn

I have just reloaded that page dozens of times, but at no time did I see the links you mentioned. Did you clear your cache after you changed your link insertion settings? It appears to me that you must be seeing cached copies of your pages. The only text links present on this article are your own coupon site and hubpages links. Hi, nightowl. I'll take your word for it. Good to know. Thank you! How do I clear my cache exactly? I will try that, too. Victoria Lynn
