We lived through a haboob (massive dust storm) two days ago, so I made a couple of "I survived the haboob" t-shirts and published similar pages on Squidoo and Wizzley to promote them. I made the Squidoo lens first and published the wizzle about an hour later. They both have the URL "haboob" and the title "Great Arizona Haboob of 2011."
24 hours later, these are the results I see:
Squidoo lens: 42 visitors (73 page views), over 60% from search engines; top of page 4 on Google
Wizzley page: 107 visitors (211 impressions), over 60% from search engines; not on first few pages of Google search

Try using a proxy service when doing these kind of searches. Or deleting all your stored browsing history, cache and cookies. Google has a way of showing personalized results that are skewed.
You might be surprised! :)

Always check scroogle to find out what the real google ranking of a page is :

I wrote a post about this a few weeks ago:

In short - you DID get Google traffic to your Wizzle page. And that means it must rank in the top 10 or something.

Oh, I know it must be ranking to get 2.5 times as much traffic as the same Squidoo page! I'm tickled about the traffic, just thought it was very interesting to see a comparison since that's the first time I've done such similar pages on the same day.
Scroogle shows the wizzle at #57 and the lens at #64. That's the first time I've used Scroogle, thanks!

It's awsome news that wizzley outranks squidoo now :)
Glad to hear you survived that sand storm btw, must have been scary.

It was definitely weird! Still cleaning things up!
Can I ask you, Katinka: if these were your pages, would you link to the wizzle from the lens, from the lens to the wizzle, or link from each to the other? That sort of thing still confuses me, figuring out what's the better thing to do for SEO.
