Plus size Raw Vegan Part 1: Are You Eating More Fruits and Vegetables?
Overall, Are You Increasing Your Raw Intake?
Last time I introduced you to the concept of a Plus Size Raw Vegan and how I measure success in alternative ways. Today I’d like to introduce you to a simple yet measurable way of viewing your success outside of the scale.
Are you eating More Fruits and Vegetables?
My answer to this question is an outstanding YES. You see before I even ventured into actively trying to eat raw, a piece of fruit or a vegetable touched my lips maybe 10% of the time. I’d gather this to be true of many Americans in my weight range and even less for some people. My cravings for sugar, carbohydrates and salt were insatiable.
Americans tend to grab quick foods which more often than not involves fast food not an apple or a carrot. Problem is the more unhealthy and unsatisfying the food you ingest, the more you become numb to the taste and the way it makes you feel. [I’m not talking emotional feelings here but physical.] Pretty soon you think that being sluggish, having headaches, being cranky; spending way too many hours on the toilet is a way of life instead of a side effect to the food you are eating.
How many fruits did you eat today? What about Vegetables? Did you eat chips? Drink a soda or have a cup of coffee? Were donuts served at the office or did they offer a fresh fruit bowl?
Our culture is so enmeshed with fast food – quick food – unhealthy food choices that we are truly unaware of the damage we are doing to our body.

Change Your Diet, Increase Your Health
You start out with a great bang. You celebrate your new found health by throwing one last binge before you ‘once and for all’ get healthy.
You eat lots of fruits and a couple of vegetables and may even try out some raw food recipes. You might even add a walk in the mornings or the evenings. Maybe you even give up a cup of coffee in the morning – instead of your 5 cups a day you are down to 4.
Week two comes along and you are getting really sick of apples, oranges, and salads. You hate that darn juice machine and vow never to clean the thing again.
By week three you allow some bread in the morning, a soda at lunch and maybe just a small portion of cooked meat or cooked rice at dinner.
Week four rolls around and you slip up even more and eventually 3 months have passed.
What happened to your raw lifestyle?
