Closed groups simply require you to request to join by clicking on 'Ask To Join Group' at the upper right hand side of the page. Usually the don't want to let any old riff-raff into the group and are closing it to ensure against spammers or people who just won't fit in. Consider thinking long and hard about whether you really want to be in the group and whether you need to be in the group. If you don't need to be in the group then you probably aren't needed in the group either. If the group really is perfect for you, and you are perfect for the group, then consider sending a message to the group admin before requesting to join.
