Induction Cookware - what to look for

by TerriRexson

A guide to the best induction cookware for use on an induction stovetop.

Induction Cookware

You've probably heard that induction stovetops require special pans and not all pans will work on them. This is true. You need to use pans with ferrous (iron) content - ones that a magnet will stick too. This includes cast iron and most stainless steel pans.

We'll cover stainless steel and cast iron cookware as well as non-stick cookware suitable for an induction stove. On this page we'll highlight the best induction cookware including pan sets and other items like a griddle which are used on a stovetop.

High Quality Induction Pans

The Cuisinart Multiclad Pro range of pans is very high quality and ideal for induction stove tops.

The stainless steel cladding makes these pans suitable for use on an induction stovetop while the aluminium core means that they will heat up faster and have more even heat distribution.

Click on the picture above and see if there is an offer price - they are often available for much less than the list price. These are the kind of pans that you won't need to replace and are worth investing in. They get excellent reviews.

This 12 piece set is great for providing a complete set of cookware for your induction stovetop.

The pans can be washed in the dishwasher too - very important to me!

Le Creuset Classic Enamedl Cast Iron Cookware Set

Le Creuset Classic Enameled Cast-Iron 6-Piece Cookware Set, Satin Red
Only $553.8

Cast Iron Cookware like the classic enameled Le Creuset range is a great choice for an induction cooktop. Cast Iron cookware has a high ferrous content so it works with an induction stovetop.

Note that Cast Iron cookware is heavy. Make sure you're okay with lifting heavy pans if you're going to choose these.

The Le Creuset pans come in a range of gorgeous colors, but I think the Satin Red color looks wonderful on a black induction stovetop.

It's not just pots and pans you need to think about when getting new cookware for an induction stove. Don't forget other stovetop items that you may use such as a griddle and a whistling kettle. You can usually find induction-ready versions of other items like the ones above and usually cast iron and stainless steel items will work.

I love my Induction Stove

I love my induction stove. I've had it for over 6 years now and it looks like new and works perfectly. I'll never go back to a gas stove now. My induction stove is very easy to clean - I just wipe with a cloth while it's still warm. It's energy efficient too. And it's safer because the glass doesn't get excessively hot and it only comes on when a pan is in place. Oh and it looks gorgeous too!
