Minecraft Cakes and Cupcakes

Edible images are so simple to apply to your birthday cake or cupcakes.

There are Minecraft edible cake and cupcake toppers on the market which would be perfect for the celebration. 

Some of the Minecraft characters include Steve, the Creeper, Pig, Cow, Ghast, Wolf/Dog, T.N.T., Chicken, Enderman, Zombie, Skeleton, Spider, Ocelot/Cat, Pickaxe, Dirt Block, Diamond Ore and more.

These toppers are available for cupcakes, round cakes, 1/4 sheet cakes, 1/8 sheet cakes and 1/2 sheet cakes.

Paper cupcake toppers are very easy to make and they will look wonderful on your decorated cupcakes.

To make your paper cupcake toppers, you can purchase the round Minecraft cupcake images on Ebay.  These images feature the Minecraft logo, Steve, T.N.T., the Creeper monster, grass blocks and more.  Images measure 2" in diameter.

Simply matte these round images onto coordinating colored cardstock, punch out with a 2 1/4" or larger circle or scalloped paper punch and then attach a toothpick or lollipop stick.

Once all of your paper cupcake toppers are assembled, insert them into your frosted cupcakes.

How To Make a Paper Cupcake Topper

One idea would be to recreate the cake pictured here which appears in the Minecraft video game.

This cake is a solid block. It is sponge-based with white frosting and cherries.

To make this cake, bake your cake in a sheet pan as pictured or a deep, square cake pan. The bottom of the cake can be tinted brown using fondant squares or frosting.

Then frost the top of the cake with white icing and decorate with real cherries or red fondant squares.

The finished Minecraft cake you see here was topped with sweet raspberries.

The Creeper monster is one of the most popular characters in Minecraft.

Since a creeper monster is made up of squares and rectangles, it is a fairly simply cake design.

For instance, the creeper cake pictured here was created using basic sheets cakes.  Then all you need to do is add the pixelated squares using different colored frosting or fondant.

This delicious, and realistic looking, Minecraft Grass Block cake was created using dark chocolate cake mix and buttercream frosting tinted green.

The sides of the cake were embellished with a blend of cake crumbs, cookies and graham crackers to give the cake a non-uniform look similar to the blocks in the Minecraft video game.

Brick and cobblestone are two prodominent materials featured in the world of Minecraft.

Therefore, the cobblestone and brick edible cake prints would look wonderful on your Minecraft birthday cake.  You could chose to use one of these designs or make a tiered cake incorporating both designs.

If you want to add some grass to your Minecraft cake or cupcakes, you can use the Wilton #233 decorating tip.

Simply tint your frosting green and pipe the grass onto your cake or cupcakes using this specialty decorating tip.  You could even bake thick chocolate brownies decorated with grass to resemble Minecraft grass blocks.

Since grass is a big part of the Minecraft World, this design would be great for your birthday party treats.
