I stumbled upon a few sites on Wizzley where members decided to challenge themselves to achieve certain goals, some successful in their game some not. I though this was a great idea, especially for people new to the site as am I. This is a great way to start writing more and to have your brains working real hard.
My Wizzley Challenge May 2012
by samsara
Life is full of challenges! Wizzley should be no different :). So I decided to set myself a goal and challenge myself.
What is my goal?
Starting today 29th of April I challenge myself to write 90 Wizzley pages before the end of May. This comes to a bit less than 3 pages per day. Might not sound as much when you divide it per day but I imagine as days pass this will become more than just a bit exhausting, especially as there are other things a person must do in life (time planning will be the key). But I know I can do it.
I first wanted to do 60 pages but the more I thought about it the more it seemed that (although not too easily) that was a very realistic goal (for an one time challenge). 90 on the other hand seems quite scary. Especially as I do wish all of the pages will be useful, creative, helpful. We will see.
Why?
It is fairly simple, quality is the key but quantity never hurt anyone.
I wish my on-line earnings would someday (soon) be enough to cover my rent and bills and I feel this challenge will bring me a few cents closer to that goal.

How will I go about it?
With a pen and a piece of paper! Writing strategy is needed. First some brainstorming is needed. I hope to have all the ideas for my pages on the paper in the first few days. I think it is easier if you have a plan and ideas already on paper. That way I can choose the idea for an article and write it on a day I "feel like it".
What I want from you?
They say kind words motivate. If you stumbled upon this page while I am still in the process of this challenge your opinion will keep me motivated.
If you will be checking any of the pages I create during a challenge and you spot a mistake, kindly point me to it, it will be appreciated. We live to learn.
If you have and tips or ideas you wish to give me, I will appreciate that too.

Experience journal
I will be updating this spot with my experience and progress. Hope I can serve you with a tip or two.
Day 1: I am finishing this article, naturally, and already have my pen and paper ready. My head is full of ideas and I do hope I will be able to put as many as possible on the paper.
Day 2: Well the first day went well. I have gotten enough ideas not to worry for the next few days and as I started creating some pages I have realized how much of a challenge I have made for myself. But goals need to be set high.
Yesterdays "enlightenments",
-curating can be as hard (and I don't mean the curating Amazon products) than creation
-you can get some great ideas under the shower
I have just finished up an article about the other use of toothpaste, although I have some pages already under construction and the idea for this one came to me this morning (while brushing teeth), I wanted this one to be the first. I want to show that you can get an inspiration from pretty much anything you do in your daily routine.
So what's cooking today? We cook every day so why not have some use of that, especially if you are doing something interesting. Today I made soy milk, and after I return from the shop I will continue to make tofu. I also managed to write an tips and tricks article for sawing electricity. So that's my trio for today. Over and out.
Day 3: Today I am taking it easy. I created a party guide and will now create two pages on the same subject - one for costumes, the other one I don't know jet :). I also have two recipe pages ready to go but I forgot the camera cable at my friends so I can't add photos. Tomorrow then.
My tip for the day would be, carry a camera with you wherever you can. Take pictures of things you find interesting and beautiful. You never know when they will come in handy. Using public domain photos is great but I guess your own pictures will say a thousand words more.
Day 4: All is still going well, I still have lots of ideas and I do keep getting new ones. Added two recipes to my article list today and one product oriented. I am working on my 4th page today as I only made 2 yesterday.
Day 5: My little (black) idea book is getting filled up with ideas, sadly/gladly with ideas for more serious, research articles that I just can't start writing while my challenge lasts (as they would take me too much time) but am thrilled to start working on them as soon as this is over (and I get a breather :)
Tip of the day: utilize your hobbies, or hobbies you used to have. I made (finished) 3 hobby pages today.
Day 6: Still going strong. Hope to push through 4 pages today as tomorrow I will be short on time.
Day 7: Feeling a bit exhausted today so I am doing "sales pages"
Day 9: How to beat writer's block? By writing about it :)
Day 11: my creative juices are running low. I do have so much to write about but there have been some strange things going on lately (most of them bad) so my mood is not the best. Funnily enough I can write about parties. It keeps me up and I have a fair share of experience when it comes to theme parties :) 64 pages to go.
Update: have stumbled upon a small problem called sickness. As bathroom is my dearest friend for the moment my challenge will suffer. Hope it is not the end of it.

@kinworm staying in the same niche really does make it easier.
Agreed, articles that require photography do take up more time, gladly/sadly I have a really lousy camera so taking pictures does not take much time as they don't come out as I would want them anyway :)
It's good to set yourself goals, Samsara :) I'm not a particularly fast writer but I can manage 3 articles a day at my fastest rate which I can do if they're all in the same niche i.e. all on the same theme like The Hunger Games for example because that way I only have to do research once which can then be split up into different articles. It's easier too when looking for relevant products from Amazon and eBay to display.
That works well for me for sales pages and also factual articles. But it doesn't work well for my 'how-to' craft articles because these require photographs that take up a lot of time.
Proper planning can speed things up immensely. Good luck :)
@sheilamarie, hope there will be enough time to eat haha. Well I will be turning some of my meals to Wizzley pages so that will save me some time :).
@Brenda I started writing everything down. There were to many situations where I had a great idea before I went to bead and was certain that I will remember it in the morning only to wake up clueless. ;)
@bolillie hope I am disciplined enough.
You definitely set your sights high! The discipline this will require inspires me.
I like your idea of writing down your ideas ahead of time. I'm going to start doing that.
This is quite a challenge! I admire your drive. But will you have time to eat?
Making enough to pay the rent is a good goal. I would like to do that, too.
I think you're going to make it.
Maybe I'll get there, too.
Good luck to you, Samsara!
@Meagan thank you. I think I will be taking a writing vacation when (if) this succeeds haha. If I won't be successful though, I will do as I always do and follow the wise words of S. Beckett. "Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better." :)
Wow - 3 pages a day for 30 consecutive days?! To me that definitely sounds like a lot! I'm impressed by your spirit - I'll be checking up to see how you go. Good luck!!
