The BEST Non-Stick Frying Pan

by Art-Aspirations

I found my dream set of frying pans. A joy to cook with and so easy to clean, they're stainless steel with a Thermlon non-stick coating that is PTFE-free and PFOA-free.

What to Look for in a Frying Pan

My Checklist

I've used a lot of pots and pans in my life - from old cast iron skillets to quality copper-bottoms to cheap teflon. Finally I found my perfect frypans and I am thrilled.

There are three major things than I need in a frying pan. It has to cook well. It has to be easy to clean and to keep looking nice. It has to be a health asset, not a health risk.

I've been researching my ideal cooking pan for quite some time. Most of my kitchen cookware is heavy-duty stainless steel and I like it very much. But the frying pan in the set was only good for stews and other moist cooking. When I tried to panfry fish fillets, I found that, even though I used a generous amount of oil, a lot of the fillet stuck to the frypan.

I like the easy cooking and clean-up of non-stick pan frying, but the possibility of toxic fumes has been a big concern. My husband has health problems and we have spent the last year detoxifying our home, so there is no way I want to cooked with something that works against what we've accomplished.

Zwilling Spirit Frying Pans

from J. A. Henckels

I discovered the Zwilling Spirit frying pans by J.A. Henckels and bought one immediately. It was exactly what I wanted. Then I bought the other sizes. I love them. On first impression, they are beautifully designed. The stainless steel exterior and handle match the rest of my kitchenware. The handle is comfortable in my hand and has a grooved top surface for my thumb to help me keep firm control as I lift the pan. It doesn't get hot either.

The interior is Thermolon ceramic non-stick coating. It looks beautiful and works like a dream. No need for high heat, food doesn't stick at all, and if you want to use butter or oil for flavor, you can use the tiniest amount and still get the impact. Washing up is so easy that there is no need to put the pans in the dishwasher, even though they are dishwasher safe. And as well as all of this, these pans are free from the chemicals PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid) so they meet my requirement to add no harm to our home environment.

These are the best frying pans I have ever cooked with. I feel happy every time I get one out and put it on the stove. Buying my Henckels Zwilling Spirit nonstick pans was a terrific decision.

Thanks for the article. I'm going to show this to my mother who prefers to cook in Teflon. She gets them all scratched up, and I keep telling her that there are dangerous chemicals in the Teflon.

I like the idea of a safe, non-stick, yet non-Teflon coated frying pan. I'll look into the Henckels Zwilling frying pans on this page!
