This is part 4 of a 5 part Plus Size Raw Vegans series that highlights alternate ways that you can measure your success in transitioning into a raw vegan diet. Most of us use the scale to measure our success or failure but in this series I want to explore 5 different ways to acknowledge your positive efforts in your journey into the raw foods lifestyle.

Series Thus Far

In the first part of this series we answered the question ‘Are you eating more fruits and vegetables?’. We answered the question ‘Do You exercise More?’ in the second part of the series.  In part three we answered the question ‘Do you drink more water?’ and today we will answer the question ‘Is Your Thinking More Positive?’.

Is Your Thinking More Positive?

Being as I am Bipolar [manic depressive aka moody] this is kind of a trick question for me since I battle with negativity almost daily. This is what I notice when I thoroughly concentrate on feeding my body more raw foods as opposed to the S.A.D. [Standard American Diet].

My mind is clearer

Yes, it seems that everyone seems to say that but it is true.  Clean, Whole, Fresh eating tends to clear the negativity from my body not just my mind.

Helen A. mentioned something similar in the Raw Family Island Forums:

This is why I find eating raw food so important... cleansing your body, cleanse your mind and spirit! I find it obvious to see why so many raw foodist's seem relaxed and at peace with themselves and their lives. I find the more I research raw food and the experiences of others the more it inspires me to do the same for my son and I” ~ Helen A.

When we take the time to clean our body, [clean fresh raw fruits and vegetables] it clears up our mind which makes it possible for us to clean our spirit which all works together to make us a whole and balanced being.

Positive Energy

I also tend to gravitate toward more positive energy when I eat more raw foods. I am guessing since my body doesn’t have to work on the physically trying work of digesting all the chemically and fat laden foods I put into it, it uses its’ energy in better ways and for me that must be more hopeful and positive thought processes.  

It is easier to find that quiet spot within you – the place where your true essence lies. It is my connection to this part of me that awakens healthy life honoring energy.

Accepting the Bad with the Good

Alongside thinking more positively I believe that we also have to acknowledge all parts of us – even the ugly parts – for me that is my negativity. It is also embracing [maybe not lovingly at first] my plus size body which is currently transforming from one of unhealthy energy and choices to one of positive energy and choices. Once we stop trying either to run from it by ignoring it or drowning ourselves in guilt [or sugar, carbohydrates and salt ]we can allow ourselves to fly more freely to the center of US.

Ka Sundance Says in “Emotional Eating vs Physical Need For Food and How to Find a Balance”:

Allowing that, being that "failure" gives us the freedom to become "right". We stop resisting by surrendering to our mistakes… Embrace your faults with love and acceptance and see the miracle happen. By loving your faults, all aspects of yourself, the change will arise and you can finally become the one you want to be.”
