Serve Jamon Iberico or Iberian Ham at Your Most Special Celebrations

by Digby_Adams

Mouthwatering Jamon Iberico is only made from an ancient breed of pigs raised in Spain.

Jamon Iberico or Iberian ham is one of the most sought after Spanish foods. In order for it to be authentic, it must come from a special region in Spain. The Spanish government carefully protects this national treasure. Jamon Iberico has it's unique moist and nutty flavor because the pigs are allowed to roam over the Spanish countryside eating as many acorns as they want!

Matt and I fell in love with this unique Spanish ham while we were visiting Spain. Every bar we stopped in served it. We had never tasted anything like it. When we got home we were disappointed that we couldn't find it in the United States. Recently companies have begun to import Jamon Iberico. We have served it at several special family gatherings and everyone else has loved it as well!

Choose the Right Spanish Ham

When you buy Jamon Iberico, you can buy a entire shoulder and serve it on a special holder or you can purchase it pre-sliced. It is much cheaper to purchase it sliced. This might be a good idea if you would like to try it before you spend hundreds of dollars on a shoulder.

Iberico de Pura Bellota Ham Paleta (Shoulder), Bone In 9 - 11 Pounds

When you buy this gourmet ham you have to make sure that you are buying ham from 100% purebread Iberian pigs. CyberCucina.com, a respected online gourmet food store has partnered with COVAP to sell Jamon Iberica.

Their purebread pigs are allowed to roam at will on one million acres of an acorn tree forest. As they consume these acorns their meat develops an intense flavor. It also becomes high in oleic acid and is a good source of Omega-3 fatty acids. Meats high in oleic acid and Omega-3 fatty acids are considered to be healthier to eat.

To serve, these are hung on special holder. A very sharp knife is used to slice off paper-thin servings.

Because Iberico de Pura Bellota Ham Paleta is imported from Spain, it is more expensive than hams you'll find here. However, you won't find anything else like it in the world. It's the perfect gourmet appetizer for a special event.

There are several ways to purchase these gourmet Spanish hams. Follow the links below to get the details.

Proudly Serve this Gourmet Ham

It's really worth it to by the Jamon stand. We love to stand behind ours and slice the ham off of it for our guests. We also have Manchego cheese which we also slice very thin to go with it. Then we place a dollop of green olive cream. This is exactly the way we experienced it in Spain! Take a look at the video below to see how it Jamon Iberico is served.
