Spot It - The Number One Family Game this Christmas

Sometimes the simplest games and puzzles are the best and the most entertaining. Remember checkers, charades, trivial pursuit, dominoes, marbles, yahtzee, and countless different card games?

Not a computer involved with any of them, but they all provided hours of fun and entertainment for families all over America and still do to this day!

When you play this game your family WILL try to cheat! I know you might find that hard to believe, but Spot It will bring out the competitor in even the most mild-mannered individual....

There are 2 main ways my family have tried to cheat at Spot It.

First someone will try to get a sneaky peek at a card before it is shown to the rest of the players (scandalous I know). The way we try to stop this is to enforce a strict rule that the cards are kept on the table at all times, and the player turning them over uses only their fingertips to turn the cards at exactly the same time.

Cheat number 2 involves a player shouting out that they know what the symbol is, then taking a few extra seconds to name the symbol while they continued searching. This worked quite well for some (you know who you are!!) when we first got the game, because the other players stopped looking for a match.

Now though we have to shout out the name of the symbol if we want to claim victory.

This is a really fun 'old fashioned' type game that all your family will love whether they are 8 or 80 years old. There aren't too many games where grandparents and grandchildren can compete on equal terms!

This is a fast-paced game that causes arguments and havoc in our home, but in a really fun way.

If you are looking for a small gift for someone, it will make a great 'stocking filler' for pretty much all age groups. When I last looked, it was number 2 in the Amazon bestsellers list of best selling toys this Christmas.

We will definitely be playing this game on Christmas day, can't wait.....
