Switchflops a Trendy Flip Flop Twist

Do you know when the flip flop was first invented? I've done a bit of digging and this is what I've found.

A man born and raised in England started his own plant manufacturing goods in Hong Kong.

The same business man, named John Cowie created a plastic version of a popular wooden sandal worn in Japan. It was cheap and easy to manufacture.

In 1957 a New Zealander, Morris Yock began importing Cowies shoes and claimed the product as his own having it patented in 1957.

Cowies children remember stories of Cowie claiming to have invented the sandals named Jandal short for Japanes Sandal.

The Cowie family immigrated to New Zealand in 1959. As far as I know the claim was never resolved.

Interesting don't you think. I'm sure there are lots of true stories about other product inventions. I am however grateful to Cowie for his invention and do feel he should get the much deserved credit.

It's no fashion secret that flip flops are the biggest trend on the list of most popular spring, summer and fall foot wear for the fashion minded trend setter.

Truth be told, you no doubt have worn a pair of flip flops over the winter. Oh they are so hard to resist. It's exciting to see the newest styles and fashions in this season flip flops.

Today we'll unveil the hottest new trends in flip flop shoe fashions, the most comfortable and versatile foot wear know to mankind!

What favorite summer footwear do you have your eye on this season? Can you live without a good line of flip flops backing you up this summer? I know I can't either.

I adore the ease of slipping on a cool pair of stylish flip flop sandals. I live for the freedom of my trunk full of assorted flip flips just by my front door. So many pairs of sandals, shoes and flip flops fit so easily into a nice decorative trunk.

Did you know that before the flip flop came to be they were commonly known as thongs? Oh yes it's true, the original shoe had thongs that connected to the upper sole of the shoe and anchored it between the big and second toe.  Imagine that!

Ah there is nothing like the nearly bare foot, the ease and comfort of sliding into something a little more comfortable at the end of the day.

Flip Flops are my summer favorite beat around, knock about the house, the neighborhood, the quick trip to the store.

I personally like flip flop better for the classic flip flop sound you make when walking around in a pair. It's such a happy sound don't you think?

Can you just imagine the cool fresh air caressing every inch of you pretty feet while you kick back and soak up the warm sun?

It's as good as fresh green grass beneath your bare feet as you can kick off the ole flip flops anytime anywhere!

After all flip flops do go with everything right? Exactly how sweet it is to slip inside a pair of flip flops and go!
