Unique and Funny Clocks Make a Room More Fun

Why hang a traditional clock on the wall when telling time can be so much fun with one of these unique and funny clocks! Traditional clocks are necessary if all you want to know is the time, but we often have enough of these built in to our appliances (stove, DVD player, computer, etc.).  So why not add a bit of personality with your next clock.

Here you will find a collection of some of the most bizarre clocks I could find on the internet.  Some are interesting, artistic and clever like the melting clock pictured here.  Others are functional like alarm clocks that require much more that just hitting a switch to stop the alarm, thus ensuring the owner is awake.  Here you will also find a biological clock, a countdown to an event clock and several other funny designs.

I have even found a fully functional backwards clock, the ultimate conversation piece.  So have a look and then be sure to use the comments at the bottom of the page to tell me which is your favorite.

New Haven Melting Shelf Sitter Clock in Antique Bronze

An Awesome Optical Illusion!

Honestly, this entire page was inspired when I saw this clock. I ordered one as a gift and the feedback was great. They love it! It is designed to sit on a flat surface and it gives the appearance that it is melting over the side.

And the best part - it works! The melting clock is more than a really cool piece of art, a fantastic conversation piece and a unique addition to your decor, it is also a precision timepiece.

Did You Know . . .

Timepieces are one of man's oldest inventions, which are still used today.

Clocks are functional, traditional is best

I usually go for fun, but since I am time-challenged, I need a clock I can look at quickly and check the time.

Ralpapajan on 06/07/2011

I could be converted!

Jimmie on 06/06/2011

I'll have to stick with boring timepieces. I think the funny clocks are interesting, but I wouldn't want to actually hang one up.

Clocks are art, I want a fun clock

I love that clock you ordered. So DALI-ish

GrandmaMarilyn on 06/09/2011

I think the art clocks are really cool. I had seen the backward clocks before but not the other ones. Love the Wall Safe Clock.

Traditional is necessary. Fun clocks are..........well..........fun! I want both!

Backwards Clock

This backwards clock puts a new twist on the old question, "what time is it?" It is a genuine clock with accurate quartz movement, however the numbers, the hands and second hand all go the wrong way.

Learn More About Clocks from Wikipedia

A clock is an instrument used to indicate, keep, and co-ordinate time. The word clock is derived ultimately from the Celtic words clagan and clocca meaning "bell". A silent instrument missing such a mechanism has traditionally been known as a timepiece. In general usage today a "clock" refers to any device for measuring and displaying the time. Watches and other timepieces that can be carried on one's person are often distinguished from clocks. The clock is one of the oldest ...

Funny Alarm Clocks - Guaranteed to Wake You Up!

Here are two not to be missed

Fortunately I work from home and very rarely have to get up at a specific time. My life wasn't always like this.  I used to rely on my alarm clock.  Only problem was I became very efficient at turning it off while still half asleep, rolling over and repeating the processes when the snooze feature activated a few minutes later.  Well that won't happen with these alarm clocks. By the time I am done doing what I need to in order to get the alarming to stop, I will be awake.

Shh, don't tell, but I am getting the target alarm clock for my hubby for his next birthday.

Why is this alarm clock so effective?  It's simple, if you don't pop up and shut it off when the alarm first rings, the propeller on top of the clock starts to spin and builds up momentum until it takes off.  Now you must find it and return it to the base before the ringing will stop.  By this time you are fully awake.

Another alarm clock requiring a bit of action on your part.  This time when the alarm sounds simply shoot the target with the laser gun provided. I don't know about you, but there have been many times I had a secret desire to shoot my alarm clock (or in my case to fling it out the window).

The First Alarm Clock in 250 BC ??

The Greeks invented a water based clock in 250 BC. As the tides rose, a "mechanical bird triggered an alarming whistle."  Was this the first alarm clock or the first cuckoo clock?

Did You Know . . .

The balance wheel and spring assembly was invented by Christian Huygens in 1657 and it is still used in watches today.

If so, this is the clock for you!
