Let's look at different types of litter contending for best cat litter:

I have to admit cat litter from corn seemed an unlikely product to me when I first heard of it a couple years ago. In fact, it is quite a competent cat waste control product.

This type of cat litter uses corn's natural absorbency to soak up liquid and odors.

It makes a great alternative to the clay and silica litters produced by the mega-corporation litter manufacturers.

I have used this type of cat litter in the past.

What I like about it includes its natural absorbency -- you see the clumps of sawdust get bigger after absorbing cat waste.

What I do not like is that it is made from tree products, which take longer to renew than a crop that grows in a field -- like corn or wheat.

There is at least, one brand of cat litter made from wheat. I have used it. It is an absorbent product.

That said, I also found it made my home smell funny -- and not long after putting fresh litter out.

Still, I continue to see it in pet stores, so there is clearly a market for kitty litter made from wheat.

The plus of this type of cat litter is that it follows the green mantra of reduce, reuse, recycle. In addition, a brand of this type of cat litter called Yesterday's News was my favorite cat litter for a long time.

One thing I do not like about it is how often I have found the little newspaper pellets break off and get tracked around the house by my cats.

Still, it remains my back-up cat litter, when my local store is out of my top kitty litter.

World's Best Cat Litter Multiple Cat Clumping Formula. While the brand takes a real chance calling itself "World's Best", this corn-based cat litter lasts long, keeps odors down, and my cats love it! The thing I like most about it is World's Best is a litter made from renewable resources that works -- really works!

Nothing wrong with sustainable cat litter that works. True that!

Do you agree? Did I pick the best cat litter? Perhaps, you like a more mass-produced, clay or silica cat litter. In addition to being mined, silica litter may cause cats health problems, due to the dust associated with such litter.

Maybe you like a different alternative kitty litter. Please tell me about it in comments.
