Where Is God?

by vocal_pen

It's difficult to answer where God is. One reason is because in trying, you open the floor to many speculations and endless expanding questions. The most prominent is...

Where is God when I need him most? Beginning the search this way is made more difficult because it supposes a limit to God. That is, in saying God is here or there, we impose a limit to God that doesn't in reality exist. It would be better to begin discussing the search for God in some places He is not.
Number one is - He is not in our material possessions. Not necessarily either in our family or friends. Not even in our ideas or expectation of Him revealing Himself to us in a certain way.

In fact, Where God is - in a tangible sense, is all around us. But not in the things.
Not to say these things or the people are not good indicators of God's love and/ or gifts to us. They however are only a manifestation of the things the "promises" of God.

To more accurately complete a search for God we have to reach an understanding of who God is. For that we begin with this verse...

(Psalm 69:20) Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. But instead, they give me poison for food; they offer me sour wine for my thirst.

Is There a Physical Place?

When Searching for God...

Creation is ArtThere is a physical place, as much as any one location could be said to contain God.

The most easily understood answer I could give then would be; presently God resides in Heaven.  However we can't neglect a familiar refrain, “the Lord is in His Holy Temple, let all the earth keep silent before Him.” (Habakkuk 2:20) His temple then as a physical, present location would tentatively be in heaven. Yet it must also be Noted (Acts7:48) ,The Exalted One does not dwell in the product of hands as The Prophet says: paraphrased - God resides in man.

The best answer then is God is in Heaven but also in man, a part of man. but even that does not fully explain where is GOD. Because to limit the search for God means limiting Him to locality. Which then would mean limiting the scope of who God is. There is even a verse which says, “The heavens are the heavens of the Lord, but the earth he has given to the sons of men.” (Psalm 115:16)

So this only touches the surface of the question, where to find God?

As you read on I hope to present more than a location to end the search for God. My purpose is more of the knowing and realizing the entirety of His place in relation and as it regards to man. More than fixing Him to a place.

Because I believe God is, but for many that is only one of many questions which begin - is God. The more fully explained question  is- Is God(real) and where does one find Him?

Look Around

Everything you see is reason to Believe in God

God in the heavens, God who created heavens and earth. God who created man and everything surrounding him for him (you); to unveil Himself (God) to you so you could choose to be where he is, there is no escaping God. Meaning you and I were created by something beyond mama and papa and DNA molecules, More than a set of scientific principles.

Worship and PrayerOur being is found in our creator – the author and refiner (finisher) – God.

Yet the question remains where exactly is he?

Where does God reside?

There are some who say God is in everything and everything is of God. He being creator has given a part of Himself to everything that Breathes life. This is partially truth.

We as human beings have the breathe of God which gives us life and substance. However life doesn't begin and or end with humanity. Matthew 6:26 NASB "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

Where to Begin the search?

I refer back to the refrain, “the lord is in His Holy Temple…” I might add it doesn’t say He lives there but it’s where He is when we need Him. His temple not made by man His temple fashioned by his own hands; inside the hearts and minds and soul of every believer in the name of the Lord; who is called and confesses his word.

the Bible God's Word

I need you to see God gave man a choice, a decision to make. You can love God, accept God, Fear God, choose to believe and open the door and let Him rest inside you spiritually. Or you can go your own way. Though I suggest the future doesn’t look to promising for those who don’t choose wisely (Rev. 20:11)

To find God or more importantly to answer where God is. I simply say pick up His book. This book that’s been debated all your life. It’s been reviled and abhorred studied and respected; well adored by everyone who’s eyes have opened to the power inside, and worshiped like there’s no tomorrow because even it dares to tell you tomorrow isn’t promised.

I say if you want to find Him. Start with his word. Let his word guide you into brotherly arms and the loving conversation He desires to have with you.

A Continuing Search For God

When I'm In Need

It's the times we hurt that the search becomes most apparent. Then we ask.

Where is God when I want Him? When I want God to be near; with me. Why don't i feel His presence? When I need Him most pressingly, where is this God?

When everyone I know is out to lunch. When my reliable help is away for business or just plain unavailable at this time, where is the divine God? How doI find God? This is our question and He provdes his completed answer.

Matthew 6:25-27 (NIV)

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of
these.

(ISV) Now if that is the way God clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today
and thrown into an oven tomorrow, won't he clothe you much better—you who have
little faith?

In other words.... I Got You

(Isa. 49:16) See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands

God and Science

Looking for God

Let's just say God is in the details. We’ll call it a little book. Put together with all these facts and stories and particular thoughts call it scripture or the law or a Bible or something. And surely this could contain God enough to even share Him with friends and family and whoever.  Sixty-six books and some forty authors design a book so intricate and detailed as to say… You might not believe this; but believe it - its Truth.

There is life for every circumstance, happenstance, or occasion; this is life what it means to live. How to find God? Where He lives and every detail to learn and know who God is. It dares to take the randomness out of living and say this is your purpose fulfill it.

This is where you’ll find God.

The Image of God

So many questions, so few answers - leading to many discussions and opportunities to learn and lean on His broad shoulders. But this shoulder, not many if anyone has ever seen, what does it look like that I might recognize it, you ask? His word says (Matt.9:37,38), the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” This means His shoulder shouldn’t be so foreign to you, you just hadn’t known what to look for. We generally think we’re looking for God some ultra outer spacey being, however He gives us an excellent view of himself in one another.Sweet Hour of Prayer

Men concerned with an image, but the picture of God He explains to you in His own words what the image is. (Gen. 1:27) Could it be? Yes, it really is that simple. We can look to the heavens by faith, with trust and hope; but He has given you a tangible actual physicality to aid you in your daily stress.

And so you don’t feel all weird and abnormal His image looks to you and me just like a brother – a man born of a woman tempted in every way like I am. (Heb. 4:15) He created you. He created Him. And said hey fellows walk together and I’ll be there with you guys if you need anything.  Perhaps though you need a grander picture.

How to Find God?

God vs Science

Because some might say that I’ve overly simplified God, and argue Laminin the protein which holds it all togethercreation is man’s idea anyway; they having searched and researched imply they have discovered what some call the God particle.

The logic being if we make God small enough then His relevancy would diminish spiritually. And we can go about the business of doing what pleases the greater masses. However I submit that there particular God looms quite large when say cancers develop. Or say explosions happen… people particularly “scientist “say religion is illogical mythos but never choose to believe or say of there own points that research theirs particularly is in itself a religion.

Their facts upon facts based on the fidelity of man, who has proven time and again to pursue his own self-interests.  For their research there is no answer to explain away that. There is no molecule that can explain that or their divorce from either spouses or reality.  People say if there is a God. Then why should there be pain?

Why does God allow suffering? As if utopia would work for everyone, but consider this - I think it’s recorded we tried that once. (Gen. 2:15,16) With that, let me also say, the smallest particle even if we label it God or originator presents an interesting problem to the scientist and the layman. Man has this big view of himself but the smallest bacterium can kill him instantly. So who really has the large and small of the issue?

Searching His Word

If you need prayer, it’ll teach you, friends, He’ll guide you. To believe that God is and to find Him he provides 66 books a collection by over 40 authors and even numerous versions – translations. You don’t have to be confused - there are even parallel versions to educate you. Take his word and eat it. It truly is like honey to taste and guaranteed filler to the soul.

And there you will find God.

The relationship

Your purpose

And His locality during it all.
