You, Me And Raintree

by Raintree

Living a fulfilled life for me is linked to nature, energy, animals and people I love. Recent changes mean I am starting again a new chapter, with benefit of experiences gained.

Why Raintree?

What is in the name Raintree?

My heart is with nature and I am at my best when surrounded by trees in a forest or even a single tree I can see from a window. With all the changes in my life I have decided to adopt a name of something I admire - A Tree. Strong firm roots that are unshakeable, branches reaching for the sky, flexible and adaptable to the winds...

Rain is essential to life, life giving, life enhancing. Not always seen as a positive by many "Oh no its raining again" but without some rain we would suffer. Water is amazing in all its forms when giving life. So thats the Rain part of it.

I am gradually adopting the name Raintree for use and my trade name over the Web. However personally and online in chat, some of you may also know me as Jasmine Ann Marie, Ann Marie, Ann or Annie or another combination!  I answer to pretty much anything!! My parents always called me Ann. My Hubby calls me Ann Marie. This is now my fave name :)

.....and You? Well I am writing any pages here for you to read and enjoy so I would love your comments and feedback.

The Ups And Downs Of Life...

Life has its ups and downs no doubt. Most of the time we just trot along living each day. Each day is special and precious. Sometimes there are events which shape our lives for the better or the worse. Ride the storms and enjoy the good times.

I am very happily married to a wonderful man for the last  21 years and still don't feel married. He is the love of my life and I know I am lucky to have found that. We have so much fun and love together and have faced a lot together. We treasure the moments and strive to live in the now and look forward to whatever is next! We live in a comfortable home on the outskirts of a town in Yorkshire UK.

We used to share this with our gorgeous Golden retriever boy until we lost him to cancer and we still love him and miss him. I have written a page about him and am in the process of writing his blog too.

I have also been through the sad and distressing process of losing all our parents. I have a small section here about them. They were a huge and good influence in my life and I love them so very much

I have had back and sciatic issues as part of my life for many years and spent a long time looking for my solution. Having severe debilitating pain taught me lot about who I am and how I cope.Luckily and due to hard work,  I do not get regular pain anymore and live my life and concentrate on what I can do :) ....which is a lot!!!

We loved to travel and have explored many countries which we enjoyed, learned a lot and had so much fun. We love our home and garden and learned new things together. We plan to explore the UK more now and will probably be on the move in a few years.

For over 20 years I worked with and on behalf of young people with special needs until the role was axed in government cuts. I embraced new opportunities in writing and photography which I love and took courses in Reiki and Meditation which have proved very interesting.

Life is exciting and challenging and a blessing. So  I seek new opportunities and new ways of working and living. I am so grateful for what I have. My husband and I stand side by side to face any new challenges.

Chop Wood And Carry Water

I love to read books by Wayne Dyer, Robin Sharma and Erckart Tolle. I am interested in self development, meditation and spirituality.

However I will never forget being told this saying about enlightenment. Keeps you very grounded !

"Before enlightenment chop wood and carry water, after enlightenment chop wood and carry water"

My Interests

What I Enjoy Doing.

My husband and I love countryside walks and exploring new places. I am passionate about nurturing nature, birds and animals. If we do not create a home and look after nature we may not have any nature in the future. We NEED to look after nature NOW.

I love gardening -flowers and vegetables- and have recently made a veg plot which is doing better than I could have hoped. We had our first mini harvest recently and I was so proud!

I have a new found love of photography and especially of taking photographs of nature, flowers, animals and nature scenes. I use my photos for my Zazzle Store Raintree Designs.

I have studied Reiki to second degree and am studying Meditation which I am finding very interesting. I hope to be able to help people and animals in the future.

Although I rarely watch TV much,  I am a bit of a Star Trek fan! I particularly like The Next Generation and Voyager. I do like "Strictly Come Dancing" and "Call The Midwife" . Hubby is very informed about films and we watch some good ones from time to time.

On the other hand I love period dramas and the Jane Austen adaptations. I also love reading a variety of books from Jane Austen to George Orwell to James Herriot and many more.

We also seem to enjoy our decorating and doing up our home! We usually have a lot of fun doing that!

Our Wonderful Parents.

My parents were wonderful, amazing and inspiring people. There really are no words to say how much they mean to me and how much I miss them now. There is too much to say about them to write here but jst a quick snapshot to give you an idea of who I came from.

I lost my Dad to cancer too young many years ago. I lost my Mum a few months ago. My Dad was a source of strength to me, a true gentleman, peaceful, honest, hard working with a wicked sense of fun and love of animals. Especially he had a magical way with horses and dogs. He was very brave, very practical and had an inner strength that was incredible. He was my rock and I now carry that within me to help me in life.

My Mum was a talented journalist and writer to the extent I can only aspire to. She had a love of words, reading and learning. She loved gardening and birds and felt life deeply. She was a complex and fascinating person. She valued education highly and always supported me all the way through in everything I wanted to achieve. I always knew they both loved me totally and were always there for me.

Both my husbands parents  have passed away as well and I do regret that we were not married long when that happened as I would have loved to know them better. His Mum was a beautiful, kind person, very giving and so gentle and his Dad was devoted, honest,  loyal and a lot of fun. They were wonderful to me, completely accepting of me from the very first meeting and loved me as a daughter for the short time I knew them.

None of my parents were not with me in my life long enough. Most people my age that I know still have parents. However, I know I am so lucky to have had such a good relationship and so many wonderful, beautiful memories with them. From everyday life, teaching me the essentials,  to fun "mystery" holidays and great times with our animals, study times and teenage drama, achievements and disappointments,  to long reflective walks and quiet talks. The significance of being together at key times in our lives. The change as I grew up from being looked after myself to looking after them as they grew ill and older.

I will always treasure everything as long as I live.

Just For Today

Reiki To Live By

When studying Reiki I learned this little phase.  I try to live by this everyday. I find in some of the statements easier that it is "Just for today" Tomorrow you can worry etc but then of course tomorrow becomes today !

Just for today:

Do not worry
Do not anger
Be compassionate to yourself and others
Be humble
Be honest in your dealings with others.

Some Of My Favourite Animal and Wildlife Pages

Our Nesting Blackbirds
We were privileged to have a blackbird build a nest on our patio in the trellis of a raised bed! She and her mate have subsequently raised a brood of four baby blackbird chicks from the clutch of eggs.I try to have a bird and wildlife friendly garden and this was indeed a treat! So since we saw the blackbird nest we have been taking photos and keeping an unobtrusive watch for our blackbirds.

Raintree, I thought I was reading a bio about myself. We certainly do have a lot in common. As you can see, I have a golden retriever. She's nine years old now and probably won't be here much longer. I also volunteer for a rescue. I love to read and I've reinvented myself more than once.
