A World of Ornaments: Zazzle Designs for Your Christmas Tree

by Mira

What would the Christmas tree be without ornaments? A tree uprooted from life. Impart it some life back, for a short while, with garlands, globes, and other ornaments.

Christmas is the time to pick a tree from the wilderness or your local market and make it fun and beautiful, while also leaving room for some of those old-fashioned reflective globes that shine so delicately when the Christmas lights are on.

If you search for Christmas ornaments on Zazzle, the site where you can customize lots of products, from T-shirts and coffee mugs to calendars and various ornaments, you’ll find the first results are round ceramic or pewter ornaments personalized with photos of family photos, couples, kids, etc. Take a look. They’re beautiful and you can make your own ornament in minutes. Maybe you won’t put it on your tree but use it as a gift to send to a dear one.

There are lots of templates on Zazzle for Christmas ornaments. Here are some of them.

I'll start with a round snowflake ornament. Now, I like snowflakes much better, but you can’t put a photo on them, so an ornament like this pewter snowflake might come in useful if you want to preserve a memory from the year that has just passed.

It used to be that people, at least in the US, wrote those one-page letters at Christmastime, sharing some of the highlights of their year. They would also include a photo. Maybe you could choose to send family and friends such an ornament instead.

The great thing about Zazzle is that there are lots of designs to choose from. Here, for instance, you can keep the layout and fonts while changing the text and the image.

Christmas tree ornaments can also be a nice way to announce a pregnancy. You can personalize such ceramic ornaments by adding your text on the back. This one already includes the text “Santa isn’t the only one coming to town. We’re expecting.” You can add your text below that.

Or change the whole thing with a simple “We’re expecting.” Customize it however way you like it best. Now, if you don’t like the image on the front, you may have to choose a different ornament, since you can’t change the image on this one. But there are plenty of make your own ornament templates on Zazzle.

But maybe the news is that your family is excited to celebrate your kid’s first Christmas. You may choose to make an ornament with a cute picture or with a drawing that you can already find on a custom-made ornament on Zazzle you only need to personalize.

These things are not very cheap. This one, for instance, is $16.95 at my time of writing this, but I think it’s a nice way to share your joy with close people.

There are funny designs too, like the second one I’m showing below, or others.

Still on the topic of kids, it’s wonderful to celebrate them at Christmas. Here’s one photo I particularly like. I was lucky enough to spend some time with a friend’s baby recently while the girl was sleeping. It gave me such a sense of peace and marvel at the world. I took a few videos and when I reviewed them before sending them to my friend, the feeling was still there. Babies are a wonderful gift. Well, my second time saying wonderful in this article. But December is a great month, or can be, if you can take some time to relax and enjoy the sunshine in winter.

Now, you may want some funny ornaments. I’ve always liked this meme on Zazzle, “Dear Santa, define good.” I’ve seen it a lot by now, but the greeting card writer that must have come up with it did a nice job, I think. Unfortunately, memes come and go, and so much of what used to seem funny becomes old. Greeting cards, in their heyday, were rather nice, I think.

I have a friend like Maxine and have often enjoyed those cards because they reminded me of her old-fashioned quirkiness. My friend, of course, is funnier than Maxine :). But such is life, always better than any kind of art. Anyway, I was happy to see Maxine on Zazzle: “Be naughty . . . save Santa the trip!” It’s not everybody’s kind of humor but again, remember you can make your own ornaments on Zazzle this Christmas.

Here’s a make-your-own template. You can turn many designs into make your own, but there are also some specifically designed for the purpose, which don’t include other images. They come in many different shapes: round, oval, star, heart, T-Shirt (ornament shaped like a little T-shirt), etc.

Or browse on Zazzle for custom-made ornaments

Have a Lovely December, and a Merry Christmas!

Thank you for commenting on this page. I just made a mental note to send someone a Christmas ornament next December :)

Mira, Very nice! The pewter makes a lovely setting, and I got really good laughs about defining good and saving Santa the trip.

I see now :). Thanks for clearing that up for me :)

Mira, In re-reading your commentary alongside the "Let it snow" ornament, I see that you're not claiming that design as yours, which is what I thought when I first read about the videos you took of your friend's sleeping baby daughter. I thought that you'd taken a still and loaded it onto the ornament. My bad. :-)

Hi, Emma. I'm confused! My design? :)

Mira, I know that Christmas has come and gone, but the photo for this article on your profile page has been catching my attention on every visit for a while now. I love the back story on how your design happened: so charming and sweet.
Zazzle certainly encourages creativity.
