by mivvy

Berlin is jam packed with historical sights. No need to splash the cash during a weekend in Berlin especially when staying in budget apartment Come2Friends.

Come2Friends Apartment Hotel for All Budgets

A City Break to Berlin is very popular. Berlin is jam packed with historical sights and museum. No need to splash the cash during a weekend in Berlin especially when eating curry wurst bought from street vendors and staying in Come 2 Friends budget apartment hotel.

Tucked away in a courtyard off Potsdamerstrasse, Come2Friends City Apartment is as friendly as the name suggests. This budget hotel is just a two-minute walk from U-Bahnstation Bülowstraße. From this metro station swift direct trains whisk you off to Potsdamerplatz, Stadmitte and Alexanderplatz.

Potsdamerstrasse is a colourful street brimming with Turkish Doner Kebab outlets, down-to-earth curry sausage eateries and bakeries that serve big mugs of coffee alongside bread and pastries. Throw in a handful of all-purpose shops, a Lidle Supermakerket and you have a neighbourhood that caters for all your needs.

How to Find Come2Friends

Turn left when you come out of U-Bahnstation Bülowstraße, Come2Friends budget apartment is on your right in Potsdamerstrasse 164. Push open the big brown door. Reception is at the back of the courtyard and open from 8am to 8 pm. If you arrive after 8 pm, ring the bell.

The Rooms in Come2Friends

Come2Friends consists of twelve apartments suitable for 2 to 3 persons. All aprtments are equipped with a kitchen unit, an electric hob, cooking pots, crockery and cutlery. In winter, the heating is on twenty-four hours, but there is no heating in the bathroom. Breakfast is not included in the room price. Order it before 4 pm if you want it at an extra €5 per person. One easy chair, three straight chairs and a small dining table make the room comfortable. Satellite Television and free wireless LAN connect you with the world.

Hand Luggage and Budget Airlines

Shopping in Berlin is great. The only problem is that when you are flying with one of the low-cost airlines your hand luggage cannot exceed 10 kilo at the most. How much you can stow away in your carry-on bags depends on the airline you are flying with. I always take this luggage scale. It is easy to carry and weighs my hand luggage accurately.

Service in Come2Friends

Staff speaks good English. You can buy a Berlin Welcome Card from reception, saving you the hassle of buying individual tickets for the metro and buses. The card also offers discounts in lots of shops, restaurants and museums. Reception can also arrange bike or car hire and theatre tickets. Check out is at 10 am. An extra I appreciated very much is the laundry service – one machine load is only €4.

My Recommendations for Come2Friends Apartment in Berlin

I found staying in Come2Friends very comfortable. The apartments overlook the courtyard which means no traffic noise. Having kitchen facilities meant that I could cook simple meals and save on costly restaurant bills. The location of Come2Friends was perfect for me; a lively neighbourhood with all amenities nearby and close enough to the centre so that I had all Berlin's sights at my fingertips.
