Baby clothes fit for a Royal baby

What clothes would you give to a Royal Baby ? Would you buy the most expensive clothes, or are handmade clothes acceptable for a Royal baby?

What do I have in common with HRH Prince Charles, Prince of Wales? Well, we are both the same age, he has the same birthday as my father ,and we are both fairly recent first time grandparents.
Prince Charles' grandson, Prince George of Cambridge, was born on 22 July 2013. Our first grandchild was born on 1 September 2013.

Here I'll look at some of the clothes I would pick for my new grandchild if money was not an issue.I'll show you the clothes that I think would be great for a Royal baby. I'll also show you the clothes I will be making and buying for my own little Royal baby.

All babies are special, whether or not they are Royal. Royal babies will , however, be photographed much more than the average baby.Let's find some great outfits fit for a little new Royal baby, and of course for our own special babies. All babies are wonderful Royal or not.

My favorite designer of baby clothes is Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney ( yes, she is the daughter of Sir Paul McCartney), is top British designer. Her American mother, Linda ( who sadly died of cancer some years ago) was a fervent campaigner for animal rights, vegetarianism and  organic produce.

All Stella McCartney's baby clothes use organic, ethically sourced materials. As Stella McCartney knows (she has 4 children) baby clothes , even luxury baby clothes, need to be machine washable.

Organic Cotton- the Best. Stella McCartney, top designer. Perfect.

I'm a big fan of knitwear designer Debbie Bliss, so that's where I'll turn for the baby clothes I'll give my own special "Royal" baby- our first grandchild.

This is my favorite book of designer hand knits. I'm midway through three projects. This book had a huge selection of simple to make baby knits that look very special. ( come back and see my photos in a few weeks)

This is the I'm using to knit my baby clothes- Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. Of course you can buy cheaper yarn, but this is for a special baby, so only the best will do.

I've picked cream for a little jacket, edged in blue. I'm also making pale green baby boots. I'm sure these would be good enough for a Royal Baby!

Here are Princess Di, Prince Charles, and baby William, emerging from hospital a few days after the birth.

Princess Di loved her sons. Here the new Royal baby is swaddled up just like any other new baby, with his mother looking shy yet proud. A lovely moment.

I've got more ideas of where to look for special baby clothes

There's a wonderful company called The White Company. They are based in the UK, but will ship to Europe, USA and all over the world.

As the name suggests, they sell white things! Not any old white things, but gorgeous, glorious White towels, sheets,candles, clothing, accessories and of course, including a range in Broderie Anglaise , rather like a modern versions of something a Royal Baby might have worn years ago.

You can  look here to see wonderful baby items from the White Company ( always a good bet if you don't know what sex the baby is)

The White Company also stock beautiful baby sheets, cots and bedroom items.I wonder if the new British Royal baby has a White Company nursery? It's not impossible.

In the USA, Saks Fifth Avenue have a whole range of Royal baby clothes- look here to see them. This is a splendid place to browse for special baby clothes, and you can order any of this selection online.

My second choice of designer label is the French company Petit Bateau ( Little Boat) Prince George has been seen wearing Petit Bateau.

Suitable for a baby boy or girl, these are so classy. Petit Bateau is a favorite among to Royal set in the UK.

I was so excited at the prospect of having a grandchild. It's been a long wait. I got my knitting needles clicking as soon as I heard the news.

I'm assured by my fashionable son and daughter in law that hand knits are highly desired these days.

I'm only knitting three first sized items, as babies grow so fast, but I've seen a lovely designer baby jumper on Amazon that I'm going to try to make in the 6 month size. Here it is - Stella McCartney again. I love this strong colored luxury baby jumper..

I'm going to make a very similar jumper-  fit for a prince or princess,

WhiteMoss, Me too, Paul and Linda McCartney's daughter Stella is one of my favorites for baby clothes and in fact clothing for all ages and genders. I've written about her dresses.
