Cherry Creek Arts Festival

by MBC

Each July 4th the shopping district known as Cherry Creek in Denver, Colorado hosts a very large arts festival. It is not to be missed.

This year I'm taking a staycation right here in Denver at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival over the July 4th weekend. 2016 will be their 26th year of this great annual event. In 2013 it included 250 world-class artists and their original work. This event features the following types of art: ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber, glass, graphics and printmaking, metal, photography, wood, and sculpture, as well as performing arts, culinary arts, music, and dance. This event started back in 1991 and is considered the "best visual arts festival in the country" and Denver's "Ultimate Outdoor Festival."

Come along and check it out here. This photo is some friends of mine dressed up for the event. All photos in this lens are my property, unless otherwise credited. New photos should be coming soon!

Support the Art Auction

Be sure to stop at the Art Auction Exhibit where you can see pieces donated by the artists and you can make a bid. The proceeds are used to continue outreach and education programs in the community all year round. Or you can place a bid on-line at If your bid is the highest the items will be mailed or you can pick them up the week after the festival.

The CCAF (Cherry Creek Arts Festival) selects from more than 2,000 artist applicants in the juried art show. Nationally this is a very competitive art festival. The following artists were the 2013 winners:

The 2014 Cherry Creek Arts Festival featured 250 national and international artists, with 86 first-time exhibitors, in 13 different media categories. I loved it and can’t wait to see what they create in 2015!

Music is part of art, as is Cooking. This is a fun and touching video - brought tears to my eyes.

There is also a Student Art Buying Program where area schools can send students to be involved in purchasing some art created by other students for their schools. This program is sponsored by Janus. This is a wonderful art education program.
