When I created this drawing, my thought was telling a little story, and every detail speaks by itself.
This illustration is full of characters and is the first of a series in which children are the protagonists.
Among all of my work, this is my favorite one. As work progressed, the characters were coming to life and personality.

About "Cooking with friends"
An everyday story.
A daily story.
This illustration, created with characters and full of good feelings, transmits us the warmth of home, a fun moment in a classic kitchen while the snow falls outside.
The older girl just prepared some delicious cupcakes, all decorated and very tempting. This same girl has a little bird in the pocket of her apron that perhaps was rescued from the cold garden.
Meanwhile Ambrosito the naughty kitten is playing with a strand of her apron. As this is a very good kitty has never hunted any bird. Do not even think of doing!
The beautiful baby wearing a bib is sitting at the table, can't resist the temptation of sweets. And he has already tested the strawberry that decorates one of the cakes. How delicious! A little mouse at all shy has already taken a biscuit. He could not wait!
Everyone in the kitchen are very busy ... From outside the window, a chilly little bird contemplates the scene. The water for the tea is ready, smoking, in the old kitchen.
Someone has overturned the milk bottle, who could have done it?
Nobody has noticed that a small being is taking home a cake?
Introducing new characters
In this illustration, my purpose was to create new characters.
In addittion to children and birds, hamsters and elements of the kitchen are new.They are always drawn starting from hand sketch, and then finished digitally.
The pretty kitty is one of my most beloved kittens, "Ambrosito".

Among all of the elements in this illustration, the boy with the white bib was the most laborious, and is my favorite character.The cupcakes were created individually, each one took me a long time to produce.

About me
My name is Gemma Orte Ruiz. I was born in 1972 in Barcelona, I'm a Catalan woman artist and illustratice. My country, Catalonia is a beautiful country near to France, at the Mediterranean sea. I live in Lloret de Mar, touristic town.
I'm working with various techniques from oil painting to digital media.
Now I'm interested in working in Illustration and contribute with humanitarian causes such as all animal rights, animal adoptions, prevention of cruelty to animals,peace, children rights and wildlife.
