Can I get some feedback, please?

In general, how is your traffic converting over this last week

I am seeing the worst, sh*tiest conversion of traffic I have ever seen across every single one of my channels. My traffic across all is at an all time high but geez, noone is buying from me.

How are you finding your sales and traffic this week?

Across the board, traffic has been pretty similar to the previous week but conversions are down a bit. I doubt I have enough data for anything statistically significant.

Views down slightly. Across the board Adsense down slightly.

Affiliate sales around normal for the week, but up for the month.

Mine are normal.  I still can't sell anything to save my life, even with expert help from half of Wizzley.

Loads of people are clicking on Amazon et al. But none of it is converting at all.

My Adsense is down, but everything else is converting quite nicely.  I have had much more success in conversions this early in the year in 2012 than I have in previous years.  May just be aging of some of my older articles, but who knows. . .

Jo, I'm with you. I haven't made one penny on Wizzley. I'll keep on a truck'n though.

Yes, there seems to be a bit of an overall slump in conversions. It'll pick up again.  Smile

I'd suggest to focus on...

1. entries for our recipe contest

2. Mother's Day gifts

3. Father's Day gifts

4. Summer stuff (low-budget vacations/things to do, fun things to do, travel tips, etc.)

5. implementing VigLink, especially eBay (we're working on eBay/VigLink tips by Paula; should get published some time next week)

For whatever reason, in the U.S. at least, St. Patrick's Day is a big shopping holiday.  Now we do not have anything seasonal until Easter and Passover which are at the same time.   If you find a good evergreen niche though, you can keep building on it to payout all year.

Mother's Day here is mid May, Father's Day and graduation in June (some in May) for seasonal stuff.  Also anything outdoors.  It is warm here already, so people are looking for outdoors stuff.  My husband is shopping for a new grill and lawn mower, for example.

As to Ebay, I am half done with an article, and we will do more videos this week to insert into it.  Hopefully, that will help people who are not good at using Ebay.

However, don't forget that you can use Viglink like Natasha does on this page http://wizzley.com/personalized-easter-gifts-for-adults/ to link directly to any vendor that Viglink does business with.  Very simple format, highlighting a few gifts and linking directly to http://www.personalizationmall.com. Very nicely done.

Paula and Chef have made some good points here.

Thanks for the cultural stuff - it's quite tricky to comprehend these from the UK. We don't really do holidays other than Christmas in a big way here - the kids get an Easter egg at Easter, Mother's day is a homemade card and a meal out and maybe a bunch of daffs (not for me I'm allergic, my boys made me Lego flowers :). It is changing though.

If you're new to making sales then seasonal/topical is the way to go, it's much easier to make seasonal sales and you'll get more data in a shorter time which helps you get a feel for what works.

He he, I've written about both outdoor grills and lawnmowers over the last few days! The weather is gorgeous here too so it's been making me think of outdoor topics.

Yes recipes where you show people how to use certain equipment / ingredients seem to work well for sales.

Viglink/eBay is definitely turning into a nice additional income stream.

For the U.S., Easter is not as much of a buying holiday, but Mother's Day is huge.  Everyone buys something for Mom, whether it is flowers, chocolate, jewelry, etc.  Father's Day not as big.  But graduation can be a big thing.  High school, college, and universities all graduate in May and June.

Thanks to you all for your feedback. Its an important 'barometer' to see how my own work is progressing in relation to you, my peers.

It helps to get feedback to see that its not just me or IS just me being affected by the traffic gods. Conversions are not where I usually like them to be, but time provides change.

Thankyou everyone

Apparently, Jase, there was also another Panda release a few days ago, that might be having an affect too.

To Paula & Ryan,

You may be hitting on factors Ive not considered for this time of year as well. Panda, keeps on keeping on with its bloody hits. We don't worry about taxes now as our financial year in Australia/New Zealand is between July to June, so we forget about accross the ditch and that also its a low point traffic/conversion wise for this time of year in the Atlantic countries.

My Adsense has been miserable this month --- under half of what it normally is. For once, my Hubpages ad income has surpassed my Wizzley Adsense income. (102 wizzes; 38 hubs) Shocking, but it just goes to reinforce that putting all eggs in one basket is not a good idea.

Thanks again to those of you who have encouraged me to diversify (Paula)!

I've been busy with lots of other online projects, Wizzley friends. So right now is not a good season for me to write articles or interact at Wizzley (or any writing sites, really). But I am busy with other fantastic opportunities and I'll be around as my time allows. These other projects give me a much higher ROI than article writing.

I'm always thinking of a new article topic, though! Writing them down for when time is available.

For most people in the U.S. taxes are due April 15, so this is the season of tax prep.  However, when tax refunds here start to come out then you can take advantage of that.

@Jimmie, you are welcome.  Smile

Just as an aside...

my CPA told me that taxes are due on April 17th, this year. The 15th is a Sunday.
