Not much better, thanks for asking.  Smile

The sacrum fracture should be healed, but the spinal nerve damage causes a lot of pain. Next week she'll get the second batch of a series of 3 steroid injections. We'll have to wait and see. Nobody can give a prognosis.

She still can only walk a few steps with the walker, and she still has no control over those certain functions that require a round-the-clock nurse. Me.

Thankfully, I work from home: shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry ... and Wizzley.  Smile

I got her a Kindle Fire for her birthday, and boy does it come in handy. We have Amazon Prime and Netflix, so she's watching movies all day long.

We just hope that the injections help, at some point. Otherwise, she'll never get out of bed.

Well I have my fingers crossed for you both. Constant pain must be horrible. I don't know anything about back injuries if I am honest, I just know that having a trapped nerve is painful enough to a spinal injury just sounds like hell.

Does she like music? If so, I can recommend Spotify at $10 a month, it compliments my Netflix perfectly (I assume that Spotify can be run from a Kindle Fire, but I can't be certain).

So.... the nerve damage, do the damaged nerves eventually die or can they be removed and/or can they heal? I should imagine that if I had chronic pain I'd be more worried about the pain than the inability to walk to be honest. Is she keeping her spirits up?

Yeah, she likes music, but more as a background. She's actually having some fun with TV-Shows like "Weeds" and "Breaking Bad". She spent several days watching all episodes in a row.

As to the nerves, the doctors can't give us a clear prognosis. The urologist even told us, that sometimes these things never heal. He has hope in her case, though.

She'll get her last set of injections in December. Then we should know more. We may need spinal surgery to rectify her disk damage.

Thank you all for your compassion and good thoughts and prayers and all the good stuff. So much appreciated.  Smile

Praying for you both here, too, Chef. Keep making her laugh. I'm sure you're good at that.

Thanks, Sheila!  Smile

Meanwhile, the whole situation has actually gotten quite hilarious: since last Friday I'm deaf!

After a shower my ears closed up, and never opened again. I've tried those over-the-counter ear drops, but they seem to have made it worse. I'm stone-deaf!

Now my wife is hobbling around with her walker, waving to get my attention. Of course, I can't understand a thing she says, so we start a lip-reading/note-writing effort of communication.

I'm telling ya - if it's not one thing ... it's ten!

Tomorrow morning I'll have an appointment with the ear doctor. I guess he's gonna blow some wax outta my useless half-shells.

I had that happen with one ear and that was bad enough! I went around yelling, "what?"

That really sucks.  Hope she heals up, and no longer needs nursing.  Must be painful, and frustrating.
