Same to you. This is a day to stop and be grateful if you are a woman living in a democratic, free country. I pray for those women who do not. Brenda Reeves

We've come a long way, but there's still so much more to achieve. Specifically for all those women across the world who do not enjoy the same rights as us. |

Happy Women's Day! The city was abuzz today. Wish I had a camera with me (my phone camera doesn't count). |

JoHarrington: 03/09/2013 - 04:37 PM The cake is a lie, Jo, thought you knew that? *wink*. Time to relax now, having spent the week alternately hacking up a lung, sleeping and working. Now my husband has the lurgy, just as I'm getting over it. That said, I went back to bed at 4pm having almost fallen asleep over my laptop earlier working on a paid freelance piece. Had a few mouthfuls of hot curry for supper, still enough left for at least another meal ;-) We did have cakes at work yesterday, by chance, but more because it was a colleague's birthday than for International Women's Day. And now back to my articles, which are still not good enough... Described by one of my clients as 'a literary grammarian', writing, researching and reading are requirements for sanity, at least this side of the keyboard.

LOL Indeed that's what my sources told me too. But then there was that tantalizing glimpse of cake too... Sorry to hear that you've been unwell, Paula. But glad to see that you're up to partying again. :) My stuff: A Writer's Guide to Wizzley | Beautiful Britain!

Yes, the lurgy is the reason why I've been so quiet this week. At least I have the ability to be decently, thoroughly and comprehensively sick without being cross quizzed as to why I am not pulling my weight in the house, why the washing up, ironing, laundry, floor cleaning etc isn't done or having my husband demand supper when all I want to do is sleep. Sometimes I forget how fortunate I am. Described by one of my clients as 'a literary grammarian', writing, researching and reading are requirements for sanity, at least this side of the keyboard.

If all of those things aren't done, then you're not the only one not pulling their weight. :p

JoHarrington: 03/09/2013 - 06:46 PM And he knows it! Still a bit croaky, but generally much better today. The hot curry supper last night and another good night's sleep definitely helped.
