Anyone who has more than a cursory glance at my profile will know that I write a lot about Runescape. It's my favourite game, but is currently in rough waters with the players over micro-transactions.

As a result of my Wizzley articles, I've been contacted by Jagex. That's the company who make Runescape. On Friday, I'm being given a personal tour of their Cambridge studios and meeting some of the people who work there.

This is a very rare honour, which wouldn't have happened, if it wasn't for Wizzley. :)

Thank you all!

Update days later:  This trip was described here:

Excellent news!  You have become influential, which in turn will raise the value of your current and future articles.  That is really great Jo, can't wait to hear all about your visit.  Smile

Oh my gosh, that's so exciting for you. It's great to hear this kind of news. It means all kinds of people are reading Wizzles.

Thanks all. <3

I'm trying out the 'I've become influential' hat to see how it feels.  *swanks about a bit*

I already knew that people were reading Wizzley. You can tell it in the sites that are linking to us.

It does indeed.

Right now, there are links to my Runescape articles on the official forum, several fansites and Reddit. They haven't been put there by me, but by fellow players who have heard the news. My stats on those articles have gone through the roof.

Bloody nice to hear Jo!!!!

Let me know if they need a voice over artist......... kidding, Cambridge is a wee bit far for me to travel at the moment.

Just remember to take lots of photos and/or vids. I wont even ask you to have fun,you will be doing that already.

Kangaroo_Jase:  Aww! I wish I'd read this before. I'd have put a word in for you. <3  And yes, it was very lovely.

Kiwi_Cacher:  It's great to see you here!  Welcome to Wizzley.  I saw that they'd taken it down, but thank you for putting it up there in the first place. <3

Oh!  I didn't know that it had been reopened.  I met Mod Stevew. He's a really nice bloke, who listened to a lot of me going on about SoF without flinching.  He also answered some questions for the Sal's lot for me, which are already up in my blog there.

I've spent much of today writing an informal version of the visit for Sal's, but that can't be published immediately.  I'm hoping to get it up asap.

I'll then write something more professional and specific for Wizzley.

Thanks for the head's up about the forum and for all of your comments on my articles here. <3

Spirit_of_RS, how lovely to see you here!

Yes, I do enjoy your posts on RSOF, though given the subject of late, I'm not sure that 'enjoy' is the right word.  Get inspiration, motivated or simply nod in agreement may be more appropriate.

Sorry that it's taking time to get user privileges on Sal's.  I'm not an admin nor mod there, but I know a lot of people who are.  Each account is approved or rejected only after an admin has personally reviewed it.  That's because there are literally dozens - 100s of spam accounts created there every day.  It usually only takes 24-48 hours for you to be approved though. It will be great welcoming you there too.

*blush*  Thanks for your kind words about my articles.  I've done my best and I will continue to do my best.  I'm as passionate about this game as you are.  <3

I think that you're far more eloquent that you give yourself credit for. That very passion and emotion, that you so disdain, puts life into your posts. They invoke passion and emotion in everyone else too, which frankly is the job of a writer.

Save the dry academia for the dry academics; and incidentally, you really should be writing here at Wizzley too.  There is certainly room for you.

Neither of us are alone in these protests. Everywhere I look, there are players raging.  We all approach it in our different ways, but yes, your analogy of watching an accident is spot on.

And thank you very much for what you said on the RSOF about my writing. That left me with tears in my eyes.  <3
