Simple learning is always the best - says me as the Head of Learning for a large company!

So here's a simple way to learn a few words of German:

Have http://pagewizz.com/ and http://wizzley.com/ open side by side or in two browser tabs and compare the two:

Topics = Themen
Pages = Seiten
Authors = Autoren

Here ends my useless contribution for today

That's actually a brilliant idea, Paul. Most of our translations compare closely to the meaning of the words or sentences. Only a few things have been adjusted to more common uses in their respective countries.

Thank you kindly :-)  I always like simple approaches!  I had to good fortune (although I didn't think it at the time!) to learn Latin at school and that has stood me in very good stead with many European languages including English Embarassed

Google's got it right. This time.  :)

I've studied Latin---or was supposed to, at least---for 6 years in German High School. Hated it. Now it comes in handy with all the Spanish-speaking folks in Texas.

Achim - something else we have in common - I studied Latin for 6 years too (and even studied theology in Latin, heaven forbid!).  I've always wondered why I have an attraction to the Spanish language (over and above my exposure during our bilingual Congress in Catagena, Colombia).

Now for trying to pronounce them. Ha.

I only took Spanish, and have since forgotten most of that as well. sigh

I have to add: I love your accents (chefkeem & Simon) in the videos. Smile

Gosh!  I did my Philosophy Baccalaureate at the Pontifical Gregorian Unversity in Rome in Italian - and that was challenging enough :-)

I could never get the hang of German. I think it had to do with having to put the verb at the end of the sentence. So I got a degree in French instead Wink

Ja, das ist eine gute Idee, Paul. Ich will Deutsch lernen! (Ich habe ein bisschen schwyzerdütsch gelernt... aber jetzt vegesse ich alles)

German friends, sit back and watch me mangle your language.... Wink Language learning is a hobby of mine, I have a smattering of several languages but definitely safest in English.

Oh that's so funny! I've turned into the character in 'Allo Allo' who thought he was speaking fluent French and all the time was saying the wrong thing. Laughing LOL
