Are we suppose to create blogs on tumblr or connect our blogs to tumblr? I'm clueless.

I'm afraid I have no idea, Brenda. But I'm also interested to know too.

I just use it to post on. It seems a lot of artists use it to post their artwork - endlessly -

I might not be using it the right way though.

Personally, I'd agree with the micro-blogging definition, though it's probably best thought of as a blog version of twitter. The posts are usually small in size and maybe even just an image, video or just a few lines of text.

I've used it a fair bit and most of my friends do too and still a solid definition eludes me...

I believe Jo uses it so maybe she can enlighten us.

I'm the one who fetched Paul!  :)

I'm trying to persuade him that this is the perfect follow up article to his one about Reddit.   Twitter with more words and pictures works as a definition for me too.

If that's the case, then how useful is it?  Would it depend on the kind of audience it predominantly attracts?  This proliferation of social networking sites is a bit overwhelming for me - I wish there was a guide for which sites are best for which kind of networking.

The smart way would be to identify tag pages which rank well for high search volume phrases in Google and then tag your posts with those keyword terms.

......... which begs the question ... How (... ....) does one do that?

Better still, how about a Wizz ... How to use Tumblr effectively as an article marketer.

Thank you ryank. That seems easy. Sheri, just get your articles out there wherever you can. You write mainly about psychology. There are psychology enthusiasts and arm-chair psychologists everywhere. I think it's a subject that appeals to a lot of people. An idea just popped into my head. You could critique some self-help books that you feel are worth reading on the subject. Self-help books got me through a bad marriage.

That's a great idea, Brenda. Thanks. I'm on the way to Toronto in a few hours so I'll go to the library there and see what I can put together. Your timing with this idea is great.

I think I figured out Tumblr. It looks like it's a cross between Pinterest and Redgage. You register and create a Tumblr blog. They have free and for a fee web designs you can use. Then you post anything you want. That makes it a great place to promote your writing, art, etc.

I've just used my to upload images and a link. To the right of where you upload your image/link/blurb there's a little box for tags.
