Sounds like everything is gone. Someone offered use of a truck and her son replied that there was not anything left to put on the truck. she has her health (thank goodness for recent great report!), her husband, her sons and her pets - and her car. and that is wonderful. most everything else can be replaced.......thank goodness. I just cannot imagine how she must feel............. Life is what happens while you are making other plans.

Let's hear it from Susan what the exact situation is. If she's okay with it, we can definitely promote a donations campaign among our members. All we need is her PayPal address. Achim "Chef Keem" Thiemermann is the co-founder of a pretty cool new platform called...um...er...oh, yeah - Wizzley.com.

I like your idea, Chef! So many things can be replaced and will eventually be covered by insurance but they take so darn long to settle everything. In the meantime folks need daily essentials that we just take for granted. If we can help Susan get through these first few weeks, it would be a wonderful thing.

Does anyone know if Susan has an internet connection? Is anyone in contact with her? We're all ready to help with money or things. It would be great to get a list of what she needs most and right away. Possibly even a temporary shipping address, as well. yes, I chatted with her briefly via email. she is at a neighbors and asked me to send her thanks to everyone for all the prayers and encouragement. she is getting all her notes left on facebook, etc.........she just is not up to getting on line right now. yes, they lost everything.........they have their health, the pets, and their cars. everything else is gone. she even left her phone in the house.............. someone offered her son, Stephen a truck on facebook last night - to use for hauling stuff. and Stephen said, "there is nothing left to haul"...........so I think that about says it. typical of Susan, she said, "it's only stuff, Joan".............indeed. thankful they all escaped. at this point, I am sure she is still in shock. We will have an announcement later today. Life is what happens while you are making other plans.

Susan's paypal address is [email protected] I do have her permission to post that -- I told her everyone is asking how to help, etc. Hope to have a physical address for cards and notes soon. Life is what happens while you are making other plans.

I just sent my 25 bucks to "my52cents". That's all I can do right now, but if we all rally together it may add up to a helpful amount. Funny, I gave so little but I feel like a million dollars. How about you guys? Achim "Chef Keem" Thiemermann is the co-founder of a pretty cool new platform called...um...er...oh, yeah - Wizzley.com.

I don't think Susan even knows what she needs at this point. The Red Cross always recommends cash gifts if possible. I know she would also appreciate notes of encouragement and love. I will keep you updated via the Wizzley page as I find out more. I am hopeful that she will do an Amazon wish list - like a bridal registry, but have not heard from her about that. Update - do pray for rain for that part of Arkansas. Last evening, Susan was evacuated again! they are house-sitting for a neighbor - and suddenly fire was within 100 yards of that house! brrrrrrrrrr they evacuated and went to son's home, where there is a travel trailer they have been staying in some. Today they are back to the house-sitting house. sounds like no damage occured there last night. but they are sure having a rough time. serious drought in the area and continued high temperatures. petunia: 02. Aug 2011, 10:57 Sounds horrid! I hope things get better out there soon and that Susan gets back on her feet quickly. The Amazon gift list sounds like a great idea. I hope she thinks to do that when she has time to think... |
