An odd thing just happened with an ad. image.

I was looking at a Wizzley article and liked one of the images of a painting in it - the module was an Amazon capsule. I was momentarily distracted by something. When I looked back at the screen I thought that someone had written an article about the artist because the same image/painting was in the side bar (lowest position in side bar ). Yes, you  guessed and see the mistake I made. Thinking it was an article I clicked to read it.  As soon as it opened up I realized I had clicked on an ad that had the same image in it as the article I had been reading. I was only on the ad.page a second before I twigged what I had done by mistake.

I know you are not meant to click ads here and would not have done so deliberately.  It was an add/image about  Boston Museum of Art, I think. Now I realize the position it was in is for ads but it did look so much like a Wizzley article on the subject.

I thought I had better draw people's attention to the possibility of making the same mistake. As I am a bit concerned this may happen to other writers who are reading pages like that.

Don't worry, you may click on Amazon ads all day long. Amazon won't mind, since - in contrast to AdSense - they are not paying for clicks. They per per sale :)

Anyway, that's a new feature we are playing with since yesterday Laughing. It's meant to be a kind of bonus to your upcoming Christmas shopping time :)

The system is simple: we take your first manually chosen Amazon product on the article, and we insert the image+title of it at the bottom of the sidebar. Usually, ads work better on readers, when they see it several times, so it's not a problem, but an advantage, that the product was shown before on top of the article. If there is no manually chosen product, we simply use the first Amazon product we can find in the article.

The feature is not finished, yet. There's still some tweaking going on, and maybe we also introduce an option to deactivate it on an article.

:) Simon

Before, we tried getting different Amazon products to show, based on the article's title, but the results were horrifyingly bad :-P

I have just noticed it is on a lot of articles that the lowest side bar ad-slot that features images (not just text) is picking out adverts with the same images that are in Amazon modules in the articles.

I am going to avoid viewing Wizzley artilces via the side bar for the time being as I do not want to make the same mistake twice.

Just added a tiny Amazon logo, to make it a bit easier to distinguish :)

I just saw that! I went to my regrow teeth article and saw the "dr collins restore" the main thing I'd recommend there show up and follow the page on the right, that's amazing! Great idea Simon!
