Hi Everyone,

My name is Nick and I'm really, really excited to join Wizzley. I've got a load of questions, many of which I was able to answer browsing the net or this forum. Others I hope you might help me with smile

1. I heard that the earnings distribution is 50/50 - 60/40. Is that only true for adds or also for affiliate earnings (i.e. amazon or ebay)? I heard somewhere that affiliate earnings are 100% ours.

2. How many affiliate links are we allowed to add to an article?
3. How many self serving links are we allowed to have?
4. What is the minimum pay out?
5. Does Wizzley only use google adsense or also some other add networks?
6. What are the minimum number of words for a hub?
7. How long does it typically take for an article to get approved?
8. Do I need a paypal account?
9. Do I need google adsense, amazon affiliate program, ebay affiliate program?
10. How long does it take to get preapproval, i.e. be able to write and publish articles without reviews?
11. And this is probably the MOST IMPORTANT one. If I write something, am I still the owner
of the content, or does ownership go over to Wizzley once the article is published?

I am really, really grateful for any input on these matters. Thank you so much,

Nick.

First off, welcome to Wizzley!

I'll try to answer as many questions as I can. Others who are wiser than me will fill in anything I get wrong or miss.

Earnings are 50/50. After 50 articles, it's 55/60, and after 100 it's 60/40.

Affilates links are one per 50 words.

Not sure about the links.

Wizzley uses Adsense or Chitika.

Minimum word count for an article is 400 words.

When you're just beginning, your first five articles will be approved manually. Usually it doesn't take Chef Keem more than a day to approve an article once it's published.

You must apply for each affiliate directly with the affiliate, so you'll need a paypal account when you register with amazon, viglink, chitika, or adsense.

You own the rights to your own work.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

you'll find all the answers in our Help FAQ (top of the page) and TOS.  Smile

I know that you've already directed our new friend to the TOS, but it reads like a Wizzley spot quiz. The gamer in me wants to play!

Do we get marked on the answers?  (Not looking them up.)  GAME ON!

1. I heard that the earnings distribution is 50/50 - 60/40. Is that only true for adds or also for affiliate earnings (i.e. amazon or ebay)? I heard somewhere that affiliate earnings are 100% ours.

It's true for all ads.  Everything on your page will pay commission to you, Wizzley and/or your referee on a rota basis. The difference in cut comes from your volume of articles.  Up to 50 articles, you get 50/50 cut.  Then it goes to 60/40 at 100 articles.

2. How many affiliate links are we allowed to add to an article?

As many as you like, as long as there are 50 words of QUALITY text for every link.  Last I heard, Sam held the record for sheer length of an article with tons of affiliate links in there.  But I may have beaten her with one of my Wars of the Roses articles.

3. How many self serving links are we allowed to have?

Erk! I don't understand the question!  Are these links to our other blogs etc or affiliate links?  As far as I know, we're allowed to spam our stuff all we like, as long as the links are relevant.  The exception being the Wizzography, which is subject to some mysterious thing called 'no follow' (it gets the old school writers all animated, but it's something to do with Google, hence I've never bothered to learn about it).  You can spam the proverbial out of your Wizzography.  That's practically its purpose.

4. What is the minimum pay out?

Wizzley doesn't pay anything directly, so that's down to your affiliate sites.  That in turn changes depending upon your location.  For example, I'm a Briton with US affiliate accounts - Zazzle pays out after $50; Amazon after $100; Chitika after $10; VigLink pays whatever is in the kitty each month; AllPosters - no idea, I've never made a penny there.

5. Does Wizzley only use google adsense or also some other add networks?

Chitika girl here represent!  I wouldn't be on Wizzley if it was Google Adsense alone. The ability to use Chitika instead is what made me choose this site over the others.

6. What are the minimum number of words for a hub?

Dunno, I've never written an article for HubPages.  It's 400 words for a Wizzle* though. ;)

* Page on Wizzley.

7. How long does it typically take for an article to get approved?

This depends when you post it.  If it's in the middle of the night in Texas, then the person approving it is snoring his little head off.  If it's in the middle of the afternoon in Texas, then probably about ten minutes. Give it 24 hours and you should be pleasantly surprised at how much sooner it turns up live.

However, these are approved manually by a tiny team (usually one person, with four more in reserve). So it's entirely possible that Life Could Happen.

8. Do I need a paypal account?

Technically no, as all of the affiliates offer alternative options for payments. But it's the most convenient option, despite the company's dodgy politics.

9. Do I need google adsense, amazon affiliate program, ebay affiliate program?

To write on Wizzley, you need none of those.  But if you wish to make money here, then you will require affiliate accounts.  Chitika is offered instead of Google Adsense.  Amazon and Zazzle are the two biggies for product placement (though again Amazon has some dodgy politics); you don't need eBay, as that's affiliated here via VigLink.  Actually, so can Amazon and Zazzle, if you prefer.

In short - no, you don't need affiliate links unless you're writing for money.  And you can get away with just VigLink, though the commission rate is crap.

10. How long does it take to get pre-approval, i.e. be able to write and publish articles without reviews?

Once you've written five articles, you will be able to post without them going via an administrator.

11. And this is probably the MOST IMPORTANT one. If I write something, am I still the owner
of the content, or does ownership go over to Wizzley once the article is published?

You own it.  You just give Wizzley the right to display it on the site and use it to promote your stuff. By which I mean that the admin may Tweet, FB, Pin etc it on your behalf.  But that's a good thing!

You may amend it, delete it, run away and marry it, if you like.  It's still yours.  Insofar as anything posted on the internet can be said to belong to anyone/thing but the internet.

How did I do?  Are there prizes?!
