Ok...I'm not understanding the Vig Link thing very well. It says I have not made any money and that's the only part I understand.

I just published an article last week and it's got a hundred or so views and plenty of impressions.

When I go to my VigLink dashboard it says I have 0 affiliated sites and and 0 clicks. Shouldn't it show my article somewhere on VigLink or no?

I signed up for VigLink and then came back and added my email under my Profile for the VigLink Box. Is that all I need to do?

Do you get paid for impressions or only clicks and purchases?

I hate to ask so many questions but I am still trying to figure all this out. Is adding my email enough or do I need to create something else to get it tracking? How often are the stats updated on Vig Link? Daily, weekly monthly?

bhthanks

Hi Stephanie,

Welcome to Wizzley. I skimmed over your article, and I see that you have added products using the Amazon module, but you do not have any links within your text. (The Amazon module does not go through VigLink, but rather, it uses your personal Amazon affiliate code, which you need to enter separately in your settings, and that is tracked on Amazon.)

To earn from VigLink, you need to include links within your article text. For example, the products that you added in the amazon module- you can put links into your text towards those products. Or, you can link to products from another site, for example, walmart or another site which sells products that you want to refer. There are many, many sites that you can link to. It has to be a site that VigLink is affiliated with. When you link to the site, or a product on the site, then if someone clicks on your link and makes a purchase, you will earn a commission.

A click and purchase can show up on VigLink the same day, or, depending on the site, it could take a week to show up.

Enjoy.

How do you get the links? When I click on Install it says they have already added links to my parent site. Yes that seems impossible if they don't have my site info. I contacted support and she told me all I had to do was add my the same email I use with Viglink to my Wizzley account which I did.

I used the help section which said to go to features, advance..etc. I did all that did the selections but it doesn't give me any codes to use to put on my site! I have everything turned on. Have read everything possible on the site and can't seem to get any where but the same pages over and over in a circle. I'm about ready to give up as I don't understand.... :(

Viglink is connected to your Wizzley articles, and they skim the article for text links. They then track all text links.

Now, you simply need to type the link into your text. for example, you type, walmart.com/productx (any link that leads to an actual product. or you copy and past the website address into your text.

that's it! once you type the link into your text (and save and publish the article), Viglink tracks all text links, only text links, in your article. If the text link leads to a site that they are affiliated with, then you earn from the resulting click or purchase. Usually, you only earn from a purchase, but ebay pays based on clicks.

Oh so  for instance, I could take my part about weed mats, add html to make them clickable to walmarts weedmat product and some how viglink will know about it and track it?

There is no need to add html? No need to get codes?

If I am understanding this correctly it sounds quite simple. So I'm not actually linking to VigLink but to the company directly but somehow viglink can track what is on my page and who clicked on what? Are they like a mediator between me and say Walmart...? They tell Walmart who bought from my page?

Hi Stephanie,

have you seen our tutorial article on VigLink? It explains everything in great detail.

you don't need to add html to make it clickable. just highlight the link and click on the chain in your wizzley text editor to insert/edit link.

when you put the link into your article, viglink will know about it and track it (because you entered your viglink email in your wizzley settings).

you don't need html or codes.

yes, you link to the company directly. Then viglink tracks what's on your page and who clicked on what. Viglink adds the code to the links, so that when someone clicks on your link, Walmart will see the viglink code. Walmart sends the money to VigLink, and VigLink sends the money to you.

VigLink is affiliated with thousands of sites, and you are affiliated with Viglink.

Don't forget the Ebay module. It runs through VigLink, and you don't need an Ebay partner account to participate.

Thanks so much....Makes since now. I thought they were like adsense and you inserted everything. I now see it is nothing like that. I have went back to my first module and worked on it. Listing where you can buy the mulch and how you can find more colors online at Lowes, Walmart and Home Depot. I made it so that when you click on those links it takes you to the actual store and to the red mulch it's self.

I guess I am doing it right. Now just sit back and see if anyone clicks on them by watching my Viglink stats.

Thank you so much!

Hi Stephanie.

I'm glad to be able to help.   Happy Earning!Smile

I went back to your page, and I see that when you click on the Walmart link, it takes you to Lowe's, and when you click on the Lowe's link, it doesn't work.

Although with AdSense, you can't click on your links, you CAN click on your VigLink to Walmart and others, because you get paid for purchases, not clicks.

So you might want to click on your text links to make sure that they are working correctly.

(Exception: those that pay per click, such as eBay.)

Hi bhthanks, I enjoyed your post here (I know how it works but you clarified a few things actually for me as well). I have one question though- these links can have anchor text right? i.e. I don't have to put ebay.com/blah blah blah I can put "Scooter" and set that up as a link to http://www.ebay.com/blah blah blah... right? :)

Hi Jerrico, I'm glad to be able to clarify things. I think that the links can have anchor text.

If you are unsure if you're links are being picked up and affiliated by VigLink, you can test as follows (if it's a pay per purchase link). Set up the link, and then click on it a few times. Wait a little while. Then log in to your associated VigLink account. It should show you a calendar, with the number of clicks for each day. in the dropdown, select source : "primary/parent site link insertion". Then click on the date where it says "5 clicks" (the date the link was clicked on). Scroll through this report, and you will see all links that were clicked on, that are being tracked.

under "most clicked links", it will show "clicks by affiliation status". for each link that was clicked on, it will indicate whether it is: "Non-monetized: Clicks to non-affiliate sites", "VigLink: Clicks affiliated by VigLink", and/or "Already affiliated: Clicks on already affiliated links." It shows up in columns as "link, clicks and status"

In this chart, if it shows a green half circle next to the link, then it is monetized by VigLink.

I'm confused too. I put in some links and clicked on them as you suggested but nothing is showing up on VigLink.

How long do you have to wait to see a click?

I just went back to reread the article on VigLink here. I really should do that before I yell for help....sigh. I found that I had missed a step. I forgot to add my email in the settings.

Now I'll see what happens.

Fixed the email thing and still not showing any clicks on VigLInk. I found that I could get more details if I changed option to "Primary Source" and then click on the calendar. It says I don't have any affiliated links!!!! What's up with that?

If you've followed the instructions correctly, and if your readers click your links, VigLik will pick them up and report them in due time. The system works, although there may be delays in reporting. Give it a little more time, Lana.  Smile

Thanks, Chef. Guess I expect everything to happen instantly.

I know I'm an impatient person. The other day I thought I was being lazy and didn't have enough articles, or ranks or whathaveyou. When I looked at my profile, I realized, I had only been here FIVE DAYS!

I've got to learn to relax - Cool

With Viglink, you have to remember that Viglink gets its information from the vendors it supports, so for instance, Ebay typically reports earnings about 24 hours later.  That is the first moment that Viglink would have access to the info to put on your Viglink account.  Other vendors take longer.  Therefore, it may be a few days before you see what if anything is earned through Viglink.

You can use anchored text, but you do not need to use any coding, just the link directly to the page in the vendor site you want.  The easiest way to insert those are by using the dashboard button to add a link, highlight the text you want to link, and put in the link ie, http://walmart.com/grass (I just made that up), then save.  You are good to go.  You can test it by clicking the link and making sure it goes where you want it to.

But how long does it take before the affiliated links show up?
