Booted off HubPages

No idea why, but I have been banned from HubPages. The staff refuses to give me a reason for being banned. There were no violations listed on my account page.

I spent hours and hours writing what I believed to be quality articles. Had 11,000 hits in the 3 mos. I was on the site, 111 followers, lots of "fan mail," was awarded a number of accolades including "Hub of the Day," and received positive feedback on my articles as well as many answers. I purchased professional photos to accompany my articles ("hubs").

The last "hub" I wrote, "Dogs in the City: A Professional Dog Trainer's Perspective on the New CBS Reality Show" got over 1370 hits in just over 24 hours. It was the first to be unpublished by HubPages, followed by all of my other dog training articles. The article was wildly popular and I got requests from people all over the world for a copy. I have since uploaded it to my own website.

Someone tipped me off to Wizzley. I will be cautious to post anything for a while. I hope this site plays more fairly. Just testing the waters right now.

I plan to upload the rest of my articles that were unpublished by HubPages to my own website as time permits.

Cindy

Hello Cindy I think you will like Wizzley, everyone is friendly here.

From all that I have seen since signing up here everything is 'transparent' and the earning payouts are not controlled by the site. There is Adsense , Viglink , Amazon and  AllPosters earnings which are not paid by the site.  There are lots of useful articles by the writers about using these.

The responses from the team who run the site  to problems or queries is  prompt ,helpful and straight forward.

There are useful features to use in articles you write , including a direct link to Pixabay for photos to use.

You will find lots of  ex Hubbers here and some who  like me still have articles over there.

Good luck for your future writing. You can tell from this, how much I like it here.

Hi Cindy glad you found Wizzley. Just curious did you use any backlinking programs? Jason put that big post recently about canceling accounts for backlinking programs. I couldn't figure out why the timing. I thought maybe they had gone on a purge or something. Again welcome.

Thank you for your reply. I hope the staff here is honest and ethical and forthcoming as far as letting writers know when a rule has been broken inadvertantly before banning them from the site.

I think I read that, but I don't think I know exactly what backlinking programs are. I do link between the sites I post and write on - is that a violation?

I remember reading and even commenting on your hubs back at HP and I can certainly vouch that the few I read were really informative. Wizzley seems to be a better community and the site is better as I see it. Glad to have you here.

If you use software to create thousands of unnatural backlinks to your site, Google will punish you anyway.

Crosslinking your articles is definitely okay.

There are been numerous bizarre and unexplained reasons why hubbers get thousands of hours of work wiped out at the click of a button, including on one occasion a case of mistaken identity.

Using automated backlinking tools is probably one of only three or four good reasons, but have to wonder how many hubbers actually did that!

I'm glad I deleted when I did..... their decision yesterday to reveal page views is ludicrous.

I do not use backlinking *programs* that I know of - I just reference my work on other sites to avoid having to give long, detailed answers concerning something I have already extensively addressed in an article.

What are the other reasons hubbers get banned - curious if I have actually committed any violations to have gotten banned.

Thanks for clarifying. I do not use any software that I am aware of.

Just consider it a lucky escape.

I doubt I'm going to be writing there anymore either. My hubs the 30 I have were getting me around 600 views a day and it was steady. Weekends saw a dip by just 30-50 views. But, now all of a sudden I joined the gang of falling traffic hubbers :) It's touched 250 and still falling. All my hubs are crashing so it's nothing seasonal - that's for sure.

That was a lot of work on my part to be kicked off without any explanation. I had 11,000 hits and 111 followers with just 10 hubs in the 3 mos. I was on the site. I also received a lot of accoldes, including "Hub of the Day."

The last hub I wrote went "viral" - people are still emailing me from all over the world for a copy after HubPages removed it. It had over 1370 hits in just over 24 hours before HubPages unpublished it without any explanation, followed by unpublishing the rest of my hubs - all about dog training and behavior.

I had several others in the works. I'm just glad I copied them to pdf files before they banned me! Now the work of re-publishing, which sets me behind in my work and writing.

You mean you can't log into your account to get the text off from the unpublished hubs? If that's the case, it's time I make a copy as well.

I don't know. When things started seeming strange, like when that last hub of mine was unpublished less than 48 hours after I published it I thought I should probably download my hubs for safekeeping and glad I did. Less than 24 hours later they unpublished all of my hubs and I could not re-published them, but no violations were ever cited.

Now apparently on my profile it says I am banned from HubPages, which is defamatory. I own a small business and am a professional writer.

I can't find you when I search for your name. Usually they're there and it says banned. I guess HP is just trying its best to cover things up. The site's becoming crazy showing the number of views and  stuff.

They won't tell me why I was banned. I emailed them and asked how to delete my account but I didn't want my earnings cancelled. They never answered that question either and it looks like they do not intend to pay me my earnings either. I know it said I was banned because other hubbers wrote and told me.

I once had an Squidoo account arbitrarily closed and I couldn't get a reason from them for that either.

They probably don't give a reason because there is no incentive for them to do so. If they give you a reason, you can dispute it, if they don't you can't. Many businesses will fire someone and then just not give them a reason either.

I consider this kind of thing a risk with publishing on someone else's site. You need to backup your content and be ready to publish it elsewhere, in case a ban happens.
