Gay Marriage x 3

We currently have three categories where same sex unions can be discussed:

Culture and Society > Social Issues > Gay Marriage

Relationships and Family > Marriage > Gay Marriage

Weddings > Wedding Traditions > Same-Sex Weddings

While I can see a big distinction here between all three, I think it would open up the subject for discussion if we changed the Culture one into Gay Rights.  Marriage would be included, but we could also write about things like Section 28 in Britain; or Mugabe threatening to lock homosexuals in a room until they produce children, or face prison sentences.  Not to mention historical actions like Stonewall.

Good idea?

Whilst we sadly continue to need to differentiate them would it not make more sense to simply have a "Gay Rights" sub-topic under Social Issues in line with "Women's Rights" ?

I've added a sub-sub under Social Issues -->  Gay Rights.

Hope that works for ya.  Smile

Well it's not an area I create content in - but it works for me Laughing

I meant to change the Gay Marriage category in Social Issues into a broader Gay Rights category, but this works too.

Thanks!

Great! That means I have a place to put my article on reporting private life in public then? (From the slant that our wonderful tabloids always make a meal out of anyone who is gay but faithful to their partner.)

Sounds like a good article.  I'm looking forward to reading it.

I have some ideas brewing, but I'm sodding off to Liverpool tomorrow for a couple of days.  I'll be back by the weekend to start writing.

I have a slew of more recent work to deal with first, Jo. A head full of retro stuff from this weekend for a start.

The article was rejected by the other place and sat there for months on months until I addressed it on holiday one Christmas and managed to get it by the censors. I generally don't write political articles, but the treatment of gay men in African countries is one particular subject that for some reason gets my goat. Big time. This article was the result.

Awareness of such things is always worth writing about.  I see us as the modern day bards, letting the world know the news through our words.
