Suggesting new categories....

Hi,

There have been a few occasions where I've noticed that there isn't a category for stuff which there probably should be a category for.

Can we have a thread, perhaps even this one, where we make suggestions to help Wizzley potentially expand their scope of topics?

At first I decided not to make the suggestions and make do with what is currently on offer, but it is probably best that Wizzley creates additional categories while the site is small rather than attempt to expand them after it inevitably explodes?

I can't remember the categories that I felt missing a few weeks ago, but when/if I find more I'll stick them on this thread.

Here's my suggestion for today:

Health & Wellness > Family & General Health > Eyesight

A lot of people wear glasses, I'm about to publish a Wizzley about a visual aid. The site has 'dentistry', quite rightfully, because we all have teeth..... we also all have eyes!

Would perhaps be a great idea if, as a group, we can make further suggestions in this area as we go along?

Cheers,

Ryan

I've added "Eyesight" as suggested. Thanks.

Hi Ryan,

If you've come up unsatisfied after performing a search for an appropriate category you can send us your suggestion directly from the search screen. We usually implement the request shortly (unless we totally disagree).

In the case of "Eyesight", we already have an appropriate category, which pops up after performing a quick search (edit: just saw that chefkeem had recently added it, sorry):

The suggestion link appears if we couldn't find anything relevant, for example "spectacles":

In this case however, we would probably have replied that "spectacles" may be too specific for a category, and that we feel the "eyesight" category would be appropriate enough.

Cool, I didn't notice that, primarily because I need new spectacles!

I actually do!

We do call them 'glasses' over here though, that's why I wouldn't have found spectacles.

Plus, my page was about large print computer keyboards for the visually impaired :-D

I'll use that feature next time :)

My great-grandmother would have called them spectacles, but for the past few decades they're glasses in New England. Can't speak for the rest of the country.

I've always found Wizzley to be conducive to the implementation of new categories where appropriate. It has been a breath of fresh air dealing with 'the powers that be' here on Wizzley.

Could not agree with you more...like writing on a completely different planet - immediate response and assistance from staff, fun and stress free, amazingly fast indexing in search results...just a wonderful place.
