Americans know eating junk food, such as fast foods, hydrogenated oils, and prepared foods are a sure way for us to die sooner than later, we see it everyday in this country. But did you know there are so-called healthy foods that can cause premature aging? Aging and your blood type are connected by the foods you eat everyday. Depending on your blood type the foods you eat or do not eat are destroying your health and making you age faster. I'm not one to jump into fads about dieting in fact i have never been on a diet in my entire life. However, this Blood Type Diet by Dr. Peter D'Adamo quickly caught my attention because It made so much sense to me. It's common knowledge that the majority of all drugs are made from plants. So I began to research his claims that there are chemical reactions between our blood types antigen and the foods we eat. I didn't have to go far to learn that the Doc is telling us the truth! Any medical dictionary can give you a lot of this information or you can look up the Harvard research quoted from in his publications.
Lectins are proteins in foods that are capable of binding to antigens on blood cells. They can interfere with the digestive system, provoke inflammation, block digestive hormones, damage the intestinal lining, impair absorption, and interfere with protein digestion.
When you eat a food containing protein lectins that are incompatible with your blood type antigen, the lectins target an organ or bodily system and begin to agglutinate blood cells in that area.
Why does this concern us?
Because many lectins are blood-type specific! According to Dr. D'Adamo blood type-specific lectins can wreak systemic havoc. They are directly correlated with three of the biggest age-related physiological problems- kidney failure, brain deterioration, and hormonal dysfunction. Lectins that find their way into the bloodstream end up stimulating the production of antibodies, and the antibody/lectin complex can lodge in the kidneys. The more agglutination occurs, less blood can be cleansed. Lectins play an equally destructive role in the brain, their effect on absorbing and metabolizing nutrients is compromised contributing to aging.
Many lectins (most found in wheat) act as false insulin, binding to the insulin receptor and blocking the action of true insulin, thus increasing resistance.
Knowing which lectins interact with your blood type and avoiding those foods that contain them can make a huge difference to your overall health, Also it's most vital that we eat what is beneficial to maximize total fitness as we age.
I am O type so I avoid all wheat products, dairy and corn. At first I thought this was going to be impossible, but within one week i knew i was doing my body right. I had learned years ago the dangers of aspartame and phenylalanine, and gave up chewing gum (unless organic) and drinking soda. This had dramatic affects on my health for the better. I had three tiny cyst in the palm of my right hand for several years that disappeared within two months, and what I figured was the start of possible arthritis in my hands went away never to return by simply giving up cokes and gum! I learned then that what we ate (even though I grew up drinking RC Cola and chewed gum everyday) had serious affects for the bad on my health, and this was fun foods! My parents always bought Soda for us kids. Now that I am older and have given up these things I feel great at age 58 and I have as much energy as my kid's!
