Kidz Bop 21

For those not familiar with the Kidz Bop series of albums, the tagline of the series, “Today’s biggest hits sung by kids, for kids” says it all. A cast of highly talented child singers is assembled to create a cover album of today’s top songs, only without the naughty language that seems to have invaded most top 40 songs. The result is an album that the whole family can enjoy!

The album is led off with the massive song “Party Rock Anthem” originally by LMFAO. If this song doesn’t get you shuffling, then nothing will. Not content to rest there, the next hit served up fresh by the Kidz Bop performers is the Maroon 5 straight-up rocker “Moves Like Jagger”. Lady Gaga also makes a repeat appearance with the recent smash “Edge of Glory”.

The real staying power of the Kids Bop line of albums is truly due to the fact that most of the artists featured on the albums already have a strong following in the preteen demographic - and this one is no exception. Besides LMFAO, who are YouTube sensations, and Lady Gaga, who has a tremendous following in every imaginable demographic out there, this release features teen heartthrob Bruno Mars’ top 10 single “It Will Rain”; the eternally young Katy Perry and her terrific “The One That Got Away”; and the glamorous, edgy sounds of Rihanna on “We Found Love”.

Kids Bop 21 takes a bold step and includes some other Top 40 Adult Contemporary artists that don’t typically have a great following in the preteen world, but nonetheless have a strong radio presence and are undoubtedly likely to be recognized by any kid over the age of 5. The British phenom songstress Adele makes an appearance with “Someone Like You”, and the edgier sounds of Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj show up with their songs “Good Feeling” and “Fly”. Inimitable French producer and dance-floor superstar David Guetta also makes a showing with his club smash “Without You” featuring R&B star Usher. However, the Kidz Bop team churns out the songs with finesse and class, easily smoothing over the rougher language in the songs.

When standard Top 40 radio just isn’t an option, but Mom and Dad have listened to as much Justin Bieber as they can stand, Kidz Bop 21 does a great job at filling the gap for those 7-12 year olds that love the hits but also love to hear the songs sung by kids  - just like them!
