Not At My Table

Say No To Genetically Modified Foods

No one would feed their child plastic but honestly there is not much difference in nutrition if you're feeding them genetically/chemically modified foods!

Do you know what it means, or how serious is it?
Genetically modified, and genetically engineered mean the same thing- chemically altered. Which is the direct manipulation of organisms using modern DNA technology.
In other words synthetic!

If you do a little research you will learn that this entire GMO process of disrupts the natural sequence of genetic information of the organism. Which means that it causes mutations. These mutations alter the functioning of the organism, and the properties of the food produced by it, and these changes alter the nutritional value of the food. They also cause the foods to contain allergens and toxins.

Potatoes have been genetically modified with lectins (a sugar-binding protein) containing GNT gene from the snowdrop plant. Which by the way damages the intestines and immune system according to, Word In Action. In an interview with Arpad Puscztai; biochemist and nutritionist. He said " I certainly would not eat it" and that "I find it's very unfair to use our fellow citizens as guinea pigs".
You can read the research for yourselves about how GMO's reek havoc on the intestines. Just type in key words, GMO intestines.
Concerned parents wonder why their kid's are overweight, blaming themselves and feeling really bad. Not understanding the real issues behind it. We never heard of genetically modified or worried about chemicals in our food or soft drinks growing up!

Consider this:
Much of the corn, soybeans, cotton, sugar beets, and canola in the United States are genetically modified. This means the ingredients made from them, including such common ingredients as corn syrup, soy lecithin, sugar, vegetable oil and cottonseed oil, are genetically modified as well.

In fact, according to California's Department of Food and Agriculture, 70% of processed foods in American supermarkets now contain genetically engineered (GE) ingredients. At this time, none of these products are required to be labeled as genetically engineered. You've decided your health already when you chose to buy 100% Organic or Synthetic. It's the world we live in today. It's called greed. Just say NO!

I am anti-GMO and very upset that Europe is now on the verge of legalizing them. I hope they do not. I believe that they will be detrimental to the future health of the planet if we can't get them illegalized.

I agree, too. We need to take control of our nutrition and the foods we eat. I try to grow some of my food and to buy those I can't grow (which turns out to be most of them) as locally as possible so that I know what I'm eating and who grew it. I know for many people this is not possible because of where they live. Organic is the way to go.

I agree, I don't buy genetically modified food. I feel it's a big reason so many people are becoming sensitive to gluten. :)K
