Organic cotton briefs/panties, bra, tank top, socks and leggings

For many women, cotton underwear/lingerie and hosiery is the most comfortable thing to have next to the skin.  It's soft yet breathable, making it the ideal choice if you're experiencing hot weather and/or doing anything strenuous!  Ordinary cotton briefs, bras, socks etc. are very easy to find in your local store too although if you want organic cotton, then you may have a bit of a search on your hands.  (Been there, done that.)  However, you might be surprised to hear that you can easily find organic cotton underwear and hosiery online.

Why organic cotton?

Organic cotton is grown without the use of chemical pesticides or herbicides.  Obviously this means that there is less damage to wildlife (not to mention cotton farmers' health). 

But there is also another benefit you might not have thought of: the absence of pesticide/herbicide residues in finished organic cotton garments means that there is less likelihood of allergic reactions in people with sensitive skin.   Many people find that organic cotton clothing is softer and more comfortable to wear, too.  And both these facts assume much greater importance when you're talking about under- rather than outer-wear!

Organic cotton socks, leggings...and body butter

A great way to keep your feet soft and moisturised is to anoint them with moisturiser before putting on a pair of cotton socks. If you've gone to the trouble to buy organic cotton socks, then you might as well go the whole way and try some organic moisturiser into the bargain! An excellent time to do mosturise your feet is just before bed - by morning, all the moisturiser will have penetrated into your feet; they'll be ready for anything and the moisturiser won't make them feel slippery. My personal recommendation for moisturiser? Body butter. It might be more expensive than ordinary moisturiser, but a little goes a long way and the texture is much nicer too. If you're looking for an unusual gift for a hard-working person whose feet need a bit of pampering, then why not buy both organic socks and some body butter?

I was very glad when I heard that leggings were coming back into fashion. I remember them from over 20 years ago - it's the one Eighties fashion that I'm quite happy to embrace again, because leggings are so comfortable and versatile - they can be worn with T-shirts or tank tops in the summer, and you can add the layers on as the weather gets colder - and when the thermometer really starts to dip, you can just add another pair of leggings on top of the first one! Organic cotton leggings are much harder to track down than regular cotton ones, but they are out there. Again, the chances are they will be softer and more comfortable than regular cotton.
