October is all about pumpkins and Jack’o lantern. It is all about going freaky with the orange pumpkins. Whether your interests in pumpkin result from culinary or artistic endeavours, you cannot do without this fruit. Pumpkins are the most popular in fall festivals like Oktoberfest, Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Housewives love to carve pumpkin faces whereas kids love to scare people with pumpkin masks. October is the month of putting pumpkins into action whether it is carving Jack’O lanterns or baking pumpkin pies. With pumpkins, you can really draw beautiful clip art and hang them on the wall. Pumpkins lying on the fields, waiting for harvest season, pumpkin going on the vine and pumpkin painted on the flag, you can never go wrong with this fiery fruit which is actually the Jack of all trades. Whether you want to celebrate Thanksgiving or Halloween, the festival is not complete without pumpkin.

Do you like the artistic side of pumpkin?
In particular, I find the Halloween shower curtain and the pumpkin posters, wall decals and watercolors particularly appealing.
Your subheading Pumpkins in Halloween especially interests me since my family traditionally uses the pumpkin shell as carved container of candied, jammed, jellied pumpkins and as non-carved container of soups and vegetables.
So, yes, I like the artistic side of Halloween and Thanksgiving pumpkins as long as they are not scary or unsettling. What would Halloween and Thanksgiving be like without carved pumpkins and pumpkin scents, tastes and textures?!
@JoHarrington - Autumn is around the corner.....time for going pumpkin-y.
@Mira - yep -pumpkin is a great fruit for carving.
@teddletonmr - Picking pumpkins and making those yummy dishes from it must be really fun.
@BrendaReeves and @ologsinquito - Great to see such distinct preferences with pumpkin. Pumpkin seeds are very tasty, I have used it in curry too.
I was mourning summer, but you're making me feel all autumn-y now!
Pumpkin is such a great vegetable, and so much fun to carve :)
We enjoy picking our pumpkins up at our local grower, making pumpkin cookies, bread and pies for thanksgiving.
Actually, my favorite pumpkin activity is roasting and eating the seeds.
I always enjoyed decorating the house with my children on Halloween. I really miss doing it. Great suggestions.
