Review of Bellatoria Sunday Brunch Sausage n' Gravy Pizza

by StevenHelmer

My wife purchased this product last week and we had it for breakfast the next morning. Read to find out what I thought of it.

Product Description: Frozen pizza with breakfast sausage and gravy as the toppings. This is meant to be served as a breakfast or brunch option. My wife purchased this product at one of our local grocery store last week for around $4 and we ended up having it as a breakfast-for-two the following morning, cooking this on our pizza oven while we were getting dressed.

It Was OK but Not Great

Bellatoria PizzaMy wife and I have purchased other items from this particular brand in the past and, based on those experiences, did have some high expectations when it came to this breakfast/brunch pizza. If nothing else, we figured it would be something a bit different from the breakfast we would normally eat. Unfortunately, while this pizza wasn’t bad, it wasn’t as good as we had hoped it would be.

I think my biggest complaint about this pizza had to be the size. It looks considerably bigger on the box than it really is when taken out of the packaging. It did turn out to be enough for the two of us. But, it would never have been large enough if my kids had eaten it with us and, given the price, I really was expecting much more in terms of quantity.

As far as overall taste goes, this wasn’t bad. The sausage and gravy gave it a good flavor and, despite being a little peppery at times, wasn’t as spicy as I thought it would be. This, of course, is a good thing because I’m not a big fan of spicy foods first thing in the morning. And, admittedly, the pizza did prove to be much more filling than expected given the size. However, I should also mention we did each have a cinnamon roll to go with it and that, I’m sure, contributed to it being so filling.

I also wasn’t a huge fan of the thin crust. It was crispier than I was expecting, which was a positive thing. But, along with the size, I did feel a little bit like the price was a rip off considering it was a sale price and wasn’t much less than what I would pay for a larger pizza with a thicker crust.

Final Opinion

Bellatoria PizzaThis proved to be an OK breakfast, at least when eaten with something else. However, because of the size of the pizza, it’s not something I would recommend if you planning on feeding your family with it and would wait until I found a better sale before purchasing it again.
