Product Description: Pre-packaged teriyaki rice blend from the Knorr Asian Sides brand. Preparation requires adding water and either cooking the rice on the stove or in the microwave with a cook time of up to 12 minutes depending on the method you choose. I purchased this yesterday at one of our local grocery stores for $1.35 and used it as part of a Chinese-food-themed dinner last night.
Review of Knorr Asian Sides Teriyaki Rice
A review of the pre-packaged rice side dish I picked up yesterday at one of our local grocery stores.
Decent Quality for the Price
I decided yesterday to make some frozen Chinese entrees for last night’s dinner and, after picking out a variety of items to make, I realized they would go good with some sort of rice dish. Since I was already spending more money than I originally intended on spending, I decided to find something that was affordable and that ultimately meant picking out this particular item.
Ironically, despite the fact I made a special trip to a different part of the store to pick this up, I almost forgot to make it last night and we were about to sit down to eat when I remembered it. Fortunately, as far as side dishes go, this one was very easy to make. I only had to add water and a little margarine to the rice and microwave it for 12 minutes. It was ready to be served right about the same time we had cleared enough room on our plates.
At first, I wasn’t sure if there would be enough in that one little packet for us. However, as it turned out, the package did make quite a bit of rice and, at least with us serving other food items, it did prove to be more than enough. We even had some leftovers. This was something I did appreciate because, with me spending more money than I really wanted to, I did like the idea of having enough for lunch the next day.
As far as taste goes, I did think this product was a little on the bland side. This was a little surprising because it did seem to have quite a few spices in it. But, at least when paired with the other items we made, it really didn’t stand out. However, while bland, it also wasn’t terrible and, given the lower price, I do think that is something that is easy to overlook.
While I wouldn’t describe it as being high in quality, I do think this product offers reasonable quality for the low price and would recommend it as a result.
