Product Description: Frozen 5-cheese pizza from the Tombstone brand with mozzarella, cheddar, Parmesan, Asiago and Romano cheeses in a marinara sauce. My wife purchased this yesterday at one of our local grocery stores and we made it on our pizza oven for our daughters to have for pizza (I ended up eating a slice of it when they were full).
Review of Tombstone Original 5-Cheese Pizza

My wife and I purchased this for our kids to have for dinner. Was it a big hit?
Review
We had a hectic first three days of the week and didn't have an evening off until last night. As a result of that, and a desire to get our kids in bed at a reasonable hour, we decided to keep things simple and just make a couple frozen pizzas for dinner. This included a Tombstone Original 5-Cheese Pizza.
As I mentioned in another review, this isn't a brand we purchase very often and, since this was a pizza that was primarily purchased for our daughters (they don't like a lot of toppings on their pizza), under most circumstances, we would have looked for a more affordable choice. However, since she was buying another variety of this brand for us, my wife decided to keep things simple and just stick with the same brand. As it turns out, it was a really good choice.
I think the thing that really surprised me about this pizza was the quantity of cheese on it. I've seen plenty of other frozen brands that promised a lot of cheese only to fail to live up to expectations. That was not the case with this pizza. There was quite a bit of cheese on it and, again, unlike so many other frozen brands, it was easy to tell there were a variety of cheeses as well.
Since there was so much cheese, the pizza was much more filling than we were expecting it to be and, because of that, my daughters weren't able to finish it (something that is unusual for them). And, since there were two extra slices and they seemed to enjoy it, I decided to give it a try myself. I honestly was very impressed. The cheese, as I mentioned, was plentiful and had a good flavor to it. Plus, unlike many other brands, the sauce was just right with enough seasonings to give it some flavor without being too spicy (something I'm sure my kids were glad about). In fact, had I not already been full from our pizza, I probably would have finished both of their extra slices.

Final Opinion
Again, this isn't a brand we buy very often. And, we probably will still end up sticking to the more affordable brands in the future. However, if we ever are in the mood to splurge, this is a variety I would definitely consider purchasing again, especially since my daughters enjoyed it as much as they did.

We have used Tombstone brand frozen pizza on a couple of occasions. it is tasty, but it's not our first choice, because we're primarily looking for the one with the lowest sodium content..
That makes sense then, but I still think the name is not particularly appealing ;-). But I can see that it honors a certain history.
The pizza got its start in Medford, WI back in the 1960s and was originally created by a tavern called the Tombstone Tap. If I remember correctly, it was named that because it was across from a cemetery.
I like this kind of pizza. Never heard of Tombstone. Why choose a name like that for pizza?
