Chicken Fried Venison Recipe

cooked meat

I was raised on venison or some of us country folks call it deer meat. Venison is a very lean meat and a staple in our diet. I have chicken fried many batches of this easy recipe. Soaking the meat before cooking will take the wild gamey or wild taste from the meat.

Ingredients

  • venison steaks

  • 1 tablespoon salt

  • ¼ cup vinegar

  • 1 cup flour

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1 cup milk

  • oil ( I like Crisco or Canola)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl soak venison for about one hour or longer in a mixture of water, one tablespoon salt and ¼ cup vinegar. The longer you soak the meat the better.

  2. Tenderize steaks real good.

  3. Have two shallow dishes one for flour, salt, and black pepper mix. One for eggs and milk mix.

  4. First dip steaks into flour mixture, then dip in egg and milk mixture and back again into flour mixture.

  5. Fry in medium-high oil until golden brown on both sides.

  6. You can make gravy from the drippings.

Serve 4-6.

Thanks for the tip I will check it out, I wish I could put at the end of each recipe a print recipe, but do not know if I can.

DerdriuMarriner on 08/14/2017

Margielynn, Very nice recipes! In reading your fruit cake article, I was going to comment that from a distance and under special circumstances, such as a less than clear actual view or camera focus, I sometimes can't tell the difference between rectangular fruit cake and meat loaf. One makes me think of the other, and vice versa, so I'm pleased to find your meat loaf recipe in the scrumptious line-up.
Did you know that you can insert a voting component into your recipes, in addition to the vote-up at the end? You'll see them in my food-related articles, such as the one you read on Brussels sprouts.

Margielynn on 08/08/2017

Look at my article again, I posted a link to Amazon for the cornmeal I use, I sure any of them will be good, I just like the yellow cornmeal! I do not know if it is fine or coarse, but sure they both will work. Thanks, I know we will have a great time! Glad your friends enjoyed their trip! Take care!

Veronica on 08/08/2017

Veronica on 08/01/2017

I went to Britain's largest Supermarket chain this morning and enquired after Cornmeal. They said that they used to stock it but it was not popular and it was discontinued. I need to try elsewhere, another supermarket maybe.

dustytoes on 08/01/2017
