VigLink and Ebay

I know that starting Oct 1st EPN changed how their program works.   Since this Oct 1st change my VigLink account on Wizzley has earned nothing.  I am not sure if the new way EPN works negatively impacted my earnings here or if there is a reporting problem.

Is anyone here showing ebay earnings in the month of October from VigLink?

Yes, mine are coming through as normal for the first week in October.

Janet, I've recently had major problems with Viglink. It simply wasn't working here and I had to drop it.

@Jo, are you showing daily actions (sales) on VigLink for Ebay.  EPN no longer pays per click but per sale.  I haven't had any sales in Oct (which is strange) so that is why I think my earnings are zero.

@olog; sorry you are having troubles with Viglink

Thanks Janet, yes, it hasn't worked out at all. But I'm happy I figured it out and dropped it.

Are you saying that as of October 1, eBay only pays for sales and not for clicks? I knew things had changed, but wasn't sure about the specifics.

My goodness, that is a big drop and so unfortunate. I used to make a little money from eBay elsewhere, but I guess no more. I've seen 4 cents since October 1.

This is one of the biggest problems with the new program and why many affiliates are seeing drastic drops in earnings,

Another new component is in the way we track “Buy It Now” and “Bid” items. For a “Buy It Now” item, you will be compensated if a user makes a purchase within 24 hours. For “Bid” items where a bid (not necessarily the Winning Bid) is placed within 24 hours of the initial click, you are credited for winning auctions for up to 10 days, which is the maximum length that an auction can last.

The cookie only lasts for 24 hours.  So a person has to click through your link and BIN or place a bid within that time period or you earn nothing.

That being said, in the good old days I was earning $2k+ a month from EPN.  Now with traffic drops across the board on my sites and rev sharing platforms I write on combined with this change to the program, I am lucky to make $5 day.

Janet, that is so sad. I'm sorry for these changes. You were doing very well with EPN. Squidoo has also suffered a big hit this year.

That is also part of my problem...oh well when life hands you lemons you know what you gotta do.

Yes, that's what you have to do. Thank goodness for Wizzley, Zujava and others.

Maybe my post here helped to move things along...I had two BIN's yesterday and earned  $2.22.  Hopefully, there is more to come.  Fingers crossed.

I knew that changes were afoot, but not the nature of them.  Thanks for informing us there.

Yes, I'd got payments for 5 clicks on eBay, though looking at it, it was less than I'd expect for 5 clicks.

I always forget about eBay modules.  Looking at your figures, it seems like that oversight was an error!  Or maybe not, now that the world has changed again.

I wanted to update you on my problems with Viglink. I heard from the Viglink support people and they were very helpful, but switching over is not automatic and you might have to jump through a couple of hoops before it all integrates with Wizzley. If someone does switch, they really have to be proactive to make sure all the connections work.

I've just completely removed Viglink from my account at Wizzley.

I mainly used it for the eBay modules but it has really never performed very well in over a year of using it. Also, in the last couple of months, my eBay/Viglink earnings trickled down to almost zero despite sending lots of click throughs that way.

So I concluded that it would be better for me to remove all the eBay modules and focus on Amazon and Zazzle which have been consistently much bigger and better earners.

It took me 2 days straight to remove every single eBay mod - though it was useful time also spent updating out of stock products and pinning all my Wizzley articles too :)

Hi kinworm, I think I only have one eBay module left, but the article is built around a vintage item. But if I decide to rewrite it a bit then it will go too.

@olgo, I am not sure what you mean by 'switching over'?

@kinworm; I only us the Ebay module for custom items (mostly party supplies) which can't be found on Amazon or other sites. I always use amazon or CJ/shareasale first, then I use Ebay for the personalized supplies.   I wish these personalized items were available elsewhere (or if Etsy had an affiliate program), but for now you can only find them on Ebay.  With Ebay earnings going down the drain, I will just change my focus a bit on the types of pages I write in the future.

@Janet - sounds like you're coming up with a better strategy for what might work well for you going forward.

I've been very happy with Amazon and Zazzle earnings from Wizzley. It was just Viglinks that did not seem to perform well for me and that may have been because I was just really using it for eBay - so not utilizing the full potential of it which I readily admit. But I'm not really interested in spending time looking at different places that sell items I want to promote, especially as I'm really working hard on the "less is more" strategy with how I add items into articles now.

Other people may well find that they love the versatility of Viglinks and they're happy with the earnings. That's why it's always best to test things out for ourselves to see what works and what doesn't. I tested it over a long period of time and concluded that it wasn't worth it for me. For someone else it may be just right!
