Mike, I think all web 2.0 platforms have seen major losses of traffic. This is not necessarily the fault of HP, Squidoo etc entirely - it is more to do with the way that Google views this type of content. HP has exacerbated the situation for its authors though.
You are unlikely to find Wizzley to be the complete solution to gaining traffic - that is for you to try to expand. What Wizzley will do for you is to ensure that there are very few, if any, poorly written or constructed articles. From the outset it has stated that it only wants quality, useful articles, that are not just a regurgitation of what has been produced elsewhere. This will assist you in the long run. Do not be downhearted if you have articles rejected here - just use the situation to improve upon that which you can contribute.
The staff here want you to make money. Explore all of the options - there are some which, as an HP writer, you will be unaware of. Having multiple income streams is the way to minimise any G slap. Another way is to minimise your reliance on G traffic. I have written a few articles here that give you the chance to expand the sites from which you can obtain traffic - use what I have explained to increase your traffic sources. All your efforts, once you have created an article, should be put into promoting your content to achieve traffic increases. Think traffic - not backlinks - now, in the post-Panda era. If your links cause traffic to flow to your articles, then this is the panacea for increasing the possibility to increase income.
