I also love visiting graveyards, particularly Victorian ones. They really went to town on the headstones and crypts. I must have a macabre bent of mind too. But there's something so peaceful, beautiful and thought-provoking in those places.

Language is evolving all the time. It needs rules for obvious reasons, but like in sports these rules should be changing from time to time. We are changing, our society is changing, our language is changing. Descriptivists will carry things on and Prescriptivists will take care things will not go too fast. In the end of the day it's always about balance.

I guess I would never write fan fiction because I would feel limited. I like the way stories form in my head and I just write them as they download. ;)

You're right Jo. I wasn't sure who was dead in that photo. I have a few of these photos of long departed ancestors in my possession. I think I'm probably pretty macabre. I love visiting cemeteries and looking at these photos. I told my kids I want them to keep my ashes when I'm gone. My youngest son said, "no way! I'm not being caretaker of anyone's ashes. I've seen too many scary movies." I enjoyed this article.

I hear you Lil. I've been learning how to restore antiques. I've bought some in really bad condition for a song. But then I spend six months figuring out how to make them pretty. I have more time than money most days.

I remembered that I'd had some Jack Daniels for my birthday. It's not one that I've sampled much of (except when I was in the States). I'm trying it again now.

Very perfume-y smell. Mild taste. Quite sour, but that's good. Yes, I could certainly partake of this again.

Wow! I really like that! It's done Jack Daniels a power of good in my estimation too. I'll bear it in mind next time I am humming and awwwwing about which whiskey to buy. (And I do buy a lot of whiskey!)
