Lego Alarm Clocks

Great for the early birds, all right. You have a point too, because the clocks are great play things as well as educational toys. Lego are very clever indeed. Thank you, Tolovaj, for commenting and taking the time to read the article.

Talking to Somebody Who is Deaf in One Ear

I think such information as you share on unilateral hearing should be learned in school. Maybe they should make seminars, each on a certain topic related to various conditions people experience throughout their lives. It seems to me that when it comes to illness, people have little sympathy for others because they have never learned how living through life with this condition or another can affect people and those around them. The only information most people have on people who lead different lives because of a predicament comes from watching TV, where unfortunately the info is mixed with lots of show biz . . . but maybe it's better than nothing, who knows? In any event, I think education means more than what is required in universities as general degree requirements. OK, they don't make it curricular, but make it extracurricular then for people in high school or college, who are at an age when they want to know so much about the two big L's, Love and Life.

Cards Against Humanity

Well Jean, it is perhaps not everyone's cup of tea but it is a good icebreaker as you point out. It sure is popular as two expansion packs have now been released.

Should You Tell People That You are Deaf in One Ear?

I imagine they should be able to regenerate those cells in a few years' time. I think David Lodge in Deaf Sentence said something to that effect, too. I can't believe though that people who understand what unilateral hearing involves make it hard for you, as in your story with your aunt and the television. But never mind that now, people are strange, as The Doors say. I'm glad you wrote this series of articles. David Lodge's predicament was hearing loss, which comes with a whole arrays of issues (some of them having to do with the way hearing aids sometimes cause more problems than they relieve), all of them different than what you describe. Good to know how things work. I imagine part of the problem when socializing is telling all this info in one scoop to the person(s) you're talking with. It's best to know about it beforehand, so thanks for this series of articles!

Is Your Home Safe for a Deaf Person?

Yes, please do review it, as I've not heard of the book before. :)

And I would advocate having fire alarms in your apartment building. You need all the time that you can get to escape that!

Is Your Home Safe for a Deaf Person?

I imagine this helps a lot of people. I'm reading David Lodge's Deaf Sentence at the moment (wondering whether to do a review about it when I finally get to finish it), and learned so many things about life as a hearing-impaired person. He says there are 9 million in the UK. Your article was great! (I got to it following Sam's link in the forum, under Knock-your-socks-off Wizzley pages :-).) I never really thought about smoke alarms, as we don't have them over here in apartment buildings -- at least not in the apartments themselves. It makes you wonder why we don't . . .

Wedding Planning Advice for the Groom

This was a fun article. I chuckled at the last piece of advice -- I imagine it's so true that the groom needs time to recover after the bachelor party :-)

Honeymoon Cruises. Is a honeymoon cruise right for us?

This is a very good, well-grounded article about cruises. I've read some easy lit on cruises -- not very useful!:-)

How to Convert Multi-Chapter Txt Files Into eReader Formats

Thank you and you're welcome. It is a different experience reading on a screen, but the words remain the same. :)

How to Convert Multi-Chapter Txt Files Into eReader Formats

Great resource. I haven't gotten into reading on a screen yet. Sometime soon though.

Puréed Fruit Cocktail with Honey and Mint

Hi Katie, you're right about such drinks being pick-me-ups. I'm amazed how quickly fruit gives you energy. :-)

Puréed Fruit Cocktail with Honey and Mint

Hi Roohi, you can try this recipe with 2 one-inch slices of fresh pineapple and the juice of one lime instead of the 2 kiwi fruits. (Just posted it above.) If you don't include the avocado, then to better absorb the vitamins just eat something that has a little fat in it. Thanks so much for visiting!

The Fantastic Health Benefits of White Tea

Hi Roohi, I knew about white tea being even richer in antioxidants than green or black tea, but didn't know it could lower bad cholesterol and control blood sugar. I've been meaning to look closely into the health benefits of green, black, and white tea varieties, but never got around to it -- so thank you for another very useful article!

Honeymoon Cruises. Is a honeymoon cruise right for us?

You didn't mention having any sea-sickness so I guess you had calm waters. I think that it would be up to each couple and what their idea of a honeymoon is. You have made some very good points about the pros and cons of cruising for a honeymoon.

Creative Writing: Fan Fiction Versus Original Stories

That is so much easier, I agree! But it's the restrictive nature which has me fascinated with fan fiction, because it's a challenge. Writing stories just as they download is certainly the way forward, if you want to publish though. :)
