Hello Adam, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I have great respect for Chris Hitchens (the world is much poorer without him) and his view is, essentially, the same as mine. Women don't NEED to be funny to attract a mate - men do. That may be evolutionary fact, but it doesn't mean women can't be funny.

On your first point, I can assure you the women of my family are not dimwits. I'm not familiar with Kevin Hart or Dane Cook (don't think we've seen much of them here in the U.K.). Most of the gals I know are very much into 'intelligent' humour - George Carlin, Eddie Izzard kind of stuff. But you (and Chris Hitchens) are right, of course, there is a difference between a sense of humour and the ability to be funny. Personally, though, I think it's important to know HOW to laugh in order to MAKE others laugh; that was my only reason for bringing it up.

Hi Tolovaj, I'm glad you like my salmon recipe. When I found the idea, it was about another fish, but I found it goes best with salmon, and with salmon and butter. I look forward to making it again soon with some fresh pineapple, so I can post a more inspiring photo ;-)

Combination of fish and fruit is not first in my mind, but hey, I am open for new things! I use mint in many recipes and I already know it can be very good friend to all sorts of soft meat.

I think we have better and better sorts of glue available so our chances to repair broken stuff are better than ever before. My biggest problem is I occasionally glue my finger too...

When I was young my biggest problem related with chess was finding a partner willing to play with me. I was pretty good. Now, when I can finally play chess at least with a computer (one of biggest wishes of my youth), I don't have time to play.
And I know I am not very good anymore.
But I still love it. Thumbs up for chess and for your article!

My mother kept buttons in a variety of shapes and sizes in a fancy metal tin. On a rainy day we were allowed to take out the button box to explore. Loved it!
